Alice's Story
I am a graduate of 1958, Slater High School. Was married to a clasmate, Jearl Durham, for 8 years then suddenly passed away 10/20/1966 from a massive heart attack at the age of 27. We had 2 children, a son named Darrel soon to be 51 and a daughter named Jerelyn who is now deceased at the age of 47 as of 11/11/2007 and buried in Slater by her dad. I have 2 biologial grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. I later remarried in 1978 and live outside of Columbia, Mo and have an inherited son who was 41 yesterday and 2 grandchildren by him and his wife. We live on a farm and do hay,no cows and bawling babies but several barn kittens, I am retired but have my own business that is very getting to be very profitable, and my husband works as an Ag. Technician for Sydenstricker, a John Deere Implement dealer west of Columbia. We live a very quiet life style. He is a tractor pulling lover and is building his own pulling tractor which is a 4010 John Deere Super Stock with 3 Turo's plus he also works on some of the Pulling Tractors tha you see on TV with NTPA. That is about it for us. Hope to hear from as many of you as possible. I love my computer, and work from it a lot and promise to answer all you emails.......As always, Alice Buck Spurgeon
I always wanted to be a millionaire when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a lost idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
I dont' get that upset anymore.

ys, and Sick Days to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
Paul Orberson is my hero. He is the founder of FHTM, and a business partner with me.
Tractor Pulling is my biggest love in the sport field.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel bathroom and add on a Huge sunroom. My dream home would be the one I already have that is paid for..
Kids, They don't listen to anything until they mess up then you have to listen to them fuss.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 1/3 of it to church, then spend the rest on family, my new sunroom and remodel bathroom.
My current age is 69. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead. I was so completely wrong.
My best friend would tell you I'm sentimental, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as strong willed.
My dress code is like a lot of othe people which consists of: Blue jeans and t-shirts and/or sweat shirt. No dresses at any time.
Won trophies by pulling tractors at local events and Missouri State Fair.
My best friend (Georgia Gregory Hibbard) and I went to Miami Grade School together and on to Slate High School. We rode the same school bus all that time. We have remained the best of friends all these years.
My first job was at shirt factory, where I got paid 21.66 a week to sew buttons on shirt cuffs in Slater. What I remember most about it is I hated it..
To let off steam and relax is the fact I don't get that way. God wouldn't like me if I did....but I relax, by reading books about angels.
