Tracy's Story
Let's see .... I married Rich Kyler in 1990. At that time, we moved to Maine where I was a Navy wife for awhile. We returned and became Family Teachers at Boys Town for five years living in Las Vegas as well as Nebraska. I worked at Boys Town in Administration for approximately 10 years before hanging it all up to buy the Ethnic Sandwich Shop on 13th Street in 2004.
Our son, Matthew, is now 23 (I bet you all feel old). He is in his last year of Engineering School at UNL. We are oooohhhh so proud of him. Our daughter, Shelbi, is 15 going on 30. She is a very active girl involved in school plays, acting at the Rose, and playing softball for high school as well as summer leagues. She's a catcher like her daddy! We had my nephew, Josh, join our family during his high school years when he came to live with us. He is now in the Navy stationed in Georgia. Josh brought a lot of fun to our family with his sense of humor.
In February 2006, our lives changed quite a bit after Rich and I were in a terrible accident. We hit a patch of black ice while travelling on the interstate. Our truck rolled approximately 300 feet off the road, o...Expand for more
ver a fence, and into a corn field. I was trapped in the truck for approximately one hour with my leg pinned underneath the truck ... it had come out the window and the truck was laying on it's side. I suffered from a broken femur, broken collar bone, broken wrist, torn spleen, damage to my right eye, and multiple bruising as well as cuts to my face. It has taken the past two years for me to correct my walking and recover from the surgery last May when they removed the rod from my femur due to complications. Boy did we age during this process!!! Lot's of gray hair to prove it ... but I still look younger than Rich ... haha.
We grew as a family after the accident and the insurance company kicking me out of the hospital after one week while denying home health care services ... that's our wonderful Police Department benefits with Coventry at it's best. My family cared for my every need while I was in a hospital bed in the middle of our living room for approximately 5 months!!!! We love each other deeply and God has given us all strength to move forward .... I wish you all love, peace, and happiness in your lives .... truly.
XO Tracy
