Karen's Story

Life After a fairly successful career in Washington, DC area as a Catering Manager/Director of Catering for several hotels and high end restaurants, I moved to Florida to be near my family. Unfortunately, I did so without checking the job market first! This area is predominantly space contractors whose livelihoods rise and fall on the next big contract. Therefore they lay off in droves and we literally have rocket scientists bagging groceries! I've spent 7 1/2 years working as a directory asst. operator, but the company closed in March and I'm on the job hunt again. UPDATE!! Landed a job I love on 2/7 as Customer Service Coordinator for Lanier Worldwide. ry pleasant working atmosphere, including ping-pong tables in the cafeteria (gourmet) courtyard! It's a lovely area along the central east coast and I live in a cute little house with my Exotic Shorthaired cat, Chloe. On the side I'm a portrait painter and like interior design, antiques, DIY, gardening, sailing with friends who have boats, flying with friends who have planes, gourmet cooking (I picked up a lot of recipes from chefs I've worked with and collect cookbooks, especially from places I travel) and TRAVELING!! I voted for Kerry....enough said about that! With all the turmoil in the world these days, and having lost several friends just this year, I think it's really important to keep in touch with people who are important in our lives and let them know how much they've meant to us.
