Dean Allison:  

- Brown University 1966-1970 (the heart of the Woodstock era - I went!): became long-hair, played bass in rock band, partied way too hard; I'll never forget the night of the first draft lottery (barely missed me); got into law school by the skin of my teeth; took up motorcycling, which became a lifelong passion (I still have 3). - NYU Law School, 1970-1973: "Scared straight," worked my butt off and made Law Review, Order of the Coif. Sunday morning motorcycle rides were my only time off from the grind. Second year summer, did summer associateship at Paul, Weiss. Third year, worked 30 hrs/week at Wachtell, Lipton (then a tiny start-up. - Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, NYC, 1972-1976: Did my "apprenticeship" as a lawyer, worked like a slave, but had some great times (ah, that shared summer house in the Hamptons!). - U.S. Attorney's Office, Los Angeles, 1977-1982: Went to get trial experience; became chief of white-collar crime unit and had many great fraud and political corruption cases; almost stayed and became career prosecutor.
