Diane's Story
Life
I live in the Ken Caryl Ranch area, about 1/2 mile from where I lived when I went to B.C.! I have lived all over the Denver area, but ended back here when I married my second husband, Jim. Sadly, I became a widow last August 11, 2016. Jim and I had been married a little over 24 years. He was a very sick man...diabetes and heart issues took their toll on him and he left our family way too soon.
I have two kids and three step-children. My daughter, Shannon is 42 years old (almost 43), and my son, Ryan is 40 years old. My daughter is married to Terry Lewis and has two children. Brody is twelve years old, and Joelle is almost 9 years old. My son married Hollen in 2006 and now has a little girl who just turned seven. Her name is Bee (Beatrix). My step-daughter, Jenny has three children and they soon be moving back to Des Moines, Iowa where her husband, Shane, will begin his ortho practice. My step-son, Peter and his wife, Kelly have two children, and my other step-son, Chad and his wife, Lissa have two boys. So, I am Grammy to ten children; all twelve and under! So much fun. I had fun when Jim's kids were in high school because they all went to dear ol' B.C.!
I work for a small business in the Ken Caryl area and really enjoy my job. Now that I am by myself, I'm not sure what the future brings. I will most likely keep working until I reach full retirement age, which will be in a couple of years. So happy to have reconnected with many friends from Bear Creek on Facebook.

nth grade through part of my senior year. Bruce went to college and both of us really changed, Our relationship couldn't withstand the distance, and we broke up.
I didn't have the money to go to college right away, so I decided to work and save for it. I was accepted at CSU and Western State, but back then, I didn't know about student loans, and I had no encouragement from my parents. During my first job, I met my first husband, Larry. He and I were married about a year later...so much for college! I had to have a kidney removed when I was 20 (it's a long story), so I thought I needed to have kids right away. I had my daughter when I was almost 21 and my son when I was 24. Boy, did I have my hands full! I am so glad I had them, though. They are the light of my life. I still regret not going to college. I feel like I really missed out on a great part of life.
I got remarried in 1992 to Jim Hodges. Jim was the Executive Director of the teachers' union in Jeffco before he retired in 2006. He had also been a biology teacher at Lakewood High School for ten years and at Columbine High School for one year. As I said earlier in my bio, Jim passed away last August. I miss him terribly and am still trying to figure out how to live this life without him.
I truly enjoyed Bear Creek High School. The teacher who inspired me actually taught at Carmody Jr. High and then taught at Bear Creek later. Her name is Joanne Meras. She taught French and we still keep in touch! We celebrated fifty (50) years of friendship a couple of years ago.
