Kelly's Story
Life
Things I miss about NJ - real pizza made by a real Italian, Italian ices (Ralphie's or Rita's), pork roll, my friends and family, Dunkin Donuts/WaWa coffee and the NY/NJ accent.
Things I don't miss - traffic, rude people, smelly areas while driving and the ridiculously high real estate market.
How I make up for what I'm missing out on from NJ -Make my own pizza, make my own Italian ices, grab a 20 pound roll of pork roll along with a few bags of coffee when I visit my friends and family.
I live across from a cow field so I do have some smelly days. Best of all, I get to sit on my front porch swing and watch my kids play on our 5 acres that we paid very little for. Life is great!
School
The thing I cherish most from high school is my senior yearbook. There are about 10 messages telling me to wait to have children until I was older. They came from different groups of friends that I never hung out with all together. I don't remember that I talked about having a baby so much that it w...Expand for more
ould produce such an influx of comments. Well... little more than 2 months after graduation, I was pregnant and turning down my full ride to Trenton State. I may not have picked a good father, but I was blessed with the best child. I never got to go to college, but have been successful with my jobs. She has made me a much better person and a more loving person. I call her my practice child, I learned what worked and didn't, which now helps me with my 2 little girls. To everyone who told me not to have a kid so young , I have to say I have no regrets that I did! If I had gone to college, I believe I would have a plain "vanilla" life - 4 years of training to be a teacher, I would probably look like an old school marm now. My daughters have taught me more than any school could have and I am so proud to have them all. And if anyone ever reads this who knows my oldest daughter's father, you can tell him she's still terrific! (It's been 10 years since we saw the loser! His loss, not ours!)
