Raymond's Story
Life
While at Johnson, I was assigned to the 3rd Air Police Sq, which became the 6041st Security Police Sq. I worked security, the stockade, and law enforcement. We left Johnson in 59 and went to Lowry for Missile Electronics training. From Lowery we were assigned to Patrick AFB and worked the Titan 1 and II programs at Cape Canaveral until 1964. Next assignment was Hawaii, tough but somebody had to do it. Left there in 67 and went to Vandenberg until 1972. Came back to Patrick until 76 working the Titan III program, then went to Edwards for two years, Retired and came back to the Cape as a civilian double dipper. I worked Titan III, 34D, and Titan IV programs. Retired again in 1994 and then went to work. We started Prison Book Project in August 1994. I've never worked so hard in my life. By March 2008, the prisons and jails served reached 1,410, plus 30 countries including Military Chapalins in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. In the last two years, we have distributed 285,000 books. been looking for a buddy named Bill Simpson, who was at Johnson with me. He went to some place in New York, and that's where I lost track of him. I sure would like to find him before it's too late. I'll take all the help I can get.
I'm also trying to contact all the guys who went through basic with me Flight 4745. Oct. 55 to Jan 56 at Sampson AFB, NY. I sure would like to be able to thank the TI (Walter Black) for making a man out of me.
I was a Widower for nearly three years when I suddenly looked at a lady whom I had known for 17 years and decided that she was absolutely beautiful and being a fast moving hillbilly, just decided to ask her to marry me. It took 21 days of sweet talk to convince her to say maybe , then two more hours of really sweet talk to get her to say "YES"! We were married June 19th. I found a whole bucket full of jewels !!!!
UPDATE 4/25/2016: Together, Joyce and I are serving 2,079 prisons and jails in the U.S. and have send books to 38 countries. We are sending out about 300,000 Christian books every year.
