Elizabeth's Story
Life
I have one son (Stuart) and daughter-in-law (Tracy) in Starr, SC. Have two beautiful grandchildren; 12 year-old grandson, Cameron and a 10 year-old granddaughter, Katie.
I am very proud of our son. Stu was a rookie league minor league baseball pitcher with the Atlanta Braves back in 1990 and 91. He is 6ft. 7 in. tall. He hurt his pitching arm in spring training and had surgery, was never the same and released. He went back to college and received a Master's Degree and is now Vice President of GOAL Admissions at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. His wife Tracy, is Director of Institutional Research at Erskine College.
My husband, Millage, is retired from the US Postal Service (35 years service) and we now live in Nashville, TN. I moved to Nashville in May, 2010 to work in the music industry and Millage followed in March , 2011.. I am a writer/publisher and songplugger. When I feel like it, I pitch to the major labels like, Warner Bros., Columbia, Curb, etc.
I am now pitching songs to Blake Shelton's producer and many others.
We love to visit Marion area every chance we get.
My mother and father, Ed and Frances Hester, are both deceased (remember the Jumbo Grill; they were owners from 1965-1972 and wasn't i...Expand for more
t a great place to eat and hang out?) Those Jumbo burgers were the BEST!
I still have aunts and uncles in Marion who I love to visit. Marion sure has changed over the years but I guess everything has. I've been married 36 years and am a published and recorded songwriter. Have received radio airplay and a few royalities with the New Hope Quartet from Mt. Juliet, TN recording my gospel song; ARE YOU READY, in 1997.. I love ANYTHING that has to do with music.
From May 2008 to May 2009, I was Fan Club President for a country music artist from Monroe, NC, Gary Lee Michael . He signed with Fires Of August Entertainment in Los Angeles, CA. Gary's music career was cut short and he died of liver cancer on August 7, 2010. He was 51 years old and will be missed by many friends and fans.
My health isn't the greatest but I try to stay positive and active. I am a two-time cancer survivor and that's something to celebrate!!!!
Would love to hear from any MHS graduates, any year.
School
The teacher who inspired me the most was Mrs. Olive Hilderbran; my 6th grade teacher at West Marion Elementary. We always had Bible devotions every morning and memorized Bible chapters and verses. She also instilled in me to "do things right, the first time."
