James's Story
Life
I still live in the town of Plain,in N. Central Washington with my wife Rebecca and son Kieran. We began mushing (dog sledding) as a family activity a few years ago and now have a large kennel and breed our own line of Alaskan Huskies. We participate in local dog sled races and help organize the Cascade Quest Sled Dog Race in the Lake Wenatchee/Fish Lake area. This is a 200+ mile Iditarod sanctioned race. venworth Ice Festival in January. Our son has grown up riding in sleds and began riding his own sled this past Winter at the age of three.
Workplace
I still work for Foss Maritime Company on ocean going tow boats. I hold a Masters License and have spent most of the last five Summers above the Arctic Circle. I'm usually up there from June through October. I've been all over the world on boats, but the Arctic still draws me back time and again.
