Rebecca's Story

Hi all, well my husband and I Manage a 55+ resort in Florida in our busy season we have over 500 residents here at one time allot of hard work, working with seniors they are all reverting back to there childhood but now they are wiser and think they know it all. Don't get me wrong I have the up most respect for our Seniors our good old Grandma's and Grandpa's, you just don't get it Mike and I are from the west and over here we are dealing with allot of Yankee snowbirds from the upper north eastern states like Michigan, Main and Canada nothing really wrong with some people from those states my brother in-law was born in Michigan but he got out in time he was raised in California so he is not really a Yankee. The older Koots, and bitter women that walk around like they were wend off a pickle you know all pinched faced like they are sucking on a lemon all of the time as if they forgot how to smile or maybe don't know how to. Or they are just bitter they live in the cold and can't live down here all summer or are married to the old Yankee I don't know but they are here and we can't wait till they leave they are here 7 month out of the year, 5 months out of the year we are like a ghost town we only have about 20 perminant resident that live here year around that is when we are enjoying our life here so the job is worth those 7 months of hell. But the resident's and the company don't know that is how we feel, we serve them all with a smile and with the respect they think they all deserve no matter how crappy they treat us at times, Mike and I just humble ourselves and say under our breath 4 more months or 3 more month and do our count down. We are looking into buying some acrage and opening our own Resort and not just a 55+ resort being a manager team for this one has tought us one real important thing it is how we DO NOT want to act or be when we become Senior Citizens. We managed resorts in Central California in Pismo Beach and Avila Beach, San Luis Obispo area before moving here, we have been working together 24/7 for about the last 7 years. The year before that I was working in Southern Cal, as a Workers Compensation Adjuster 250 client case load in Rancho Cucamonga, stressful job and going to school at night I was'nt getting home until 10-11 at night living in Ontario. Job got so streesful and not getting enough rest, Doctor diagnosed me with Fibromyalsia, that is chronic pain and chronic fatigue syndrom if you have not heard of it. Look it up on the internet it predominately affects women, I don't know why but it affect a small amount of men. So my daughter moved out at 18 as you know they all want to be on there own. So we sold our home baught an RV and hit the road since I was now on disability Doctor took me off of work for one year back in 2001 to get rest and recoupe from this dibilitating disease, not life treatening, but let me tell you, you truly want to die because you are in extreme pain and are so tired you can hardly function. Well got better for awhile about 4 years got into this industy. And now the strees is so bad it has return now out of remission after 4 years I am back out of work for a year again, Doctor's have told me when it returns the second time it is even worst and they are not kidding I have been in bed flat on the old back for three months, so doing allot on the computer, watching TV, reading books and bible, and not to much more than that, dreaming and planning our future, creating resume's for family and friends and searching for old friend to have something to do and get back in contact. To get rest again we are leaving our position here we will be out of here by May 15. My husband has been a Locksmith for 22 years he is doing that again and applying for the Railroad he wants to change careers anyway so here we go, but still looking into the Resort. Daughter is a single a mom right now she likes it that way the sperm donor of my Grandson decided he wanted to be a husband now a father and told her to get an abortion so she had one she aborted him sent him packing home to mom and dad back to Chicago one way ticket thats my girl I tought her everything she knows how to be tough and have her own mind and not to be controled and question all athority. I also taught her to look for true love. My parents live here in Florida they are both doing very well they live on 3 acres in a beautiful home in Plant City, the Strawberry Capitol of the World my Mom is a lunchroom lady at the local Technical High School, my Father is still a painter has his own business he is so awesome he can do just do about anything and make everything look beautiful he paints does tile work, woodwork, reconstruction, brickwork, etc. you should see what he has done to their home it is remarkable. Shelly Lives here in Valrico with her children, Kelly lives in So. Cal with her husband and two children , Gina lives in Chino Hills with her two beautiful girls, David lives in Anehiem with his wife & three children, and Dane lives in Utah with four of his children his oldest lives here in Florida, he has his own yelling, screaming band you know the kind that kids listen to today, the kind that you can't make out the words to. Well hope to here from some of you. Love to get some email since I am kinda in bed allot due to being in pain so much can hardly walk at times, unfortonatlly gained some rediculouse weight d...Expand for more
ue to medications, bummer, I take around 35 pills a day 172 a week so that must tell you something, gaga gogo, Say some prayer. I have allot support though Love ya, Becky I always wanted to be a Councler when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a party animal idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. Have a cup of coffee a smoke and look at the beautiful blue sky with the fluffy white clouds and pray My daugter told me what always made the difference between me and her friends parents was I always gave her, her privacy I always knocked on her door,I would give her respect witch in return showed her how to respect others I never demanded it. You have to show it to get it. I never spanked her I sent her to her room told her what she did told her to think about it, come up with a punichment that was suitable for the behavior, if the punishment was not equal for the behavior we could talk about it. That is what she does with her son. She says that is why she has very good reasoning ability. If I won $100 million, I'd give 5 million of it to my parents, then spend the rest on my husband, myself, daughter, grandson, the rest of my family and open a Ranch for intercity children to expierance a working farm since they propaby have never feed and animal or rode a horse, collected eggs, rode a tractor, ect. and give to my Church.. My current age is 43. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be in a wheel chair with false teeth or using a cane. I was so completely wrong my father is 71 and can run circles around me. My best friend would tell you Ihave not been in contact with her for 23 years and have been looking for her since, if anyone has seen or heard from Lisa Johnson please let me know, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as now talking about from high school I was a party animal, ditcher, loved playing on the softball and vollyball team at Coronado I also love to makeout with random guys that I somewhat knew though, or met at least met once or twice or would make out with them once I knew them from school, no committment, but when I was in a relationship it was manogamous and I was good at s--. You know I am being honost, is that not what you want, or do you want me to sugar coat it. No, don't really have the body my daughter took it from me when I had her. She has it now. But that is ok I don't really need it. I dress more mature but I have a sense of style I love clothes and I have been told I dress very well I do have to agree. I don't spend allot on cloths but I do buy the expensive clothes I just shop smart I visit the clearance racks you know what I mean ladies. I don't have to keep up with the Jone's The weirdest job I ever had? I would not call it weird I would call it tiring, it was delivering magazine subscriptions all over the city to residents door step, so confusing it was a pain in the rear. I knew my husband four weeks I asked him to marry me, I was already engaged to someone else, he said yes. I planned our wedding in two weeks and we were married two weeks later, I was 18 he was 19, I spent a total of $400 on the wedding, I borrowed Maryann Quintana's (Steele) wedding dress, I bought the silver wedding bands, no I was not pregnant, yes I know some where thinking so, I bought my maid of honors dress at a thrift store light green hand washed and pressed it, my family made all of the food, had cake made at the local grocery store, made invitation by hand Calligraphy class came in handy even though that is why I did not graduate with the class of 82 I have forgotten the art teacher that tought the Calligraphy class because I was so angry with her because she failed me because I did not turn in a nib a pen tip to a Calligraphy pen can you believe that a NIB, a failing grade an F I was one of her best students I was getting like an A or a B+ in the class I did not even know I failed until I got the report card, I did not even know it was missing. I would have bought her a freaking pack of them if I knew, and mailed them to her home. What a shame I think I still have some animousity WOW! I better pray about that one. Anyway, I had a Chapel, Organ player, a Military Chaplen he evern had his dress blues on they are beautiful all the military men that attended dressed in there dress greens, so yes I had a military wedding, I also planned a honeymoon in Carmel Valley as we lived in Montery in Nortern Cal. If you did not already know he was in the Army one night in a cabin in the woods looking over the cliffs of the beach. The cabin had a fireplace that was roaring, champagne was chiling so romantic. It worked we just celebrated our 25th Anniversary on April 22, 2008 what a dream come true. The funny thing is my husband now and my fiance than where both named Mike, I guess it is true when they say God gives you two roads to choose from and I obviously chose the right Mike. The other was starting to drink things were getting rocky, plus he was 26 I was 18 did I really want an alchoholic old man for a husband NOT! I picked the right Mike, he is my best friend, lover, and we are still till this day and even after spending the last 7 years 24/7 night and day together madley in love with each other. I am sure If I did'nt asked him to marry me he was a such a shy, broke GI. And would have waited for him, I would have never found Mr. Right!
