Andrea's Story

Life Family: Hubby (married 22+ yrs!) - Nissan / Children's Pastor. Kids (d. 21 - married, s. 20 - Air Force bound, d. 10 "mini-me" 5th grader) - Homeschool is cool! Grandchild - welcome baby Jordan!!! Home: Built custom dream home I designed, thanks to mechanical drafting at McGavock and years of childhoood sketching on reams of graph paper, built on husband's family acreage in M'boro. Have now downsized to pre-Civil War home in Christiana. Pets (should say kids pets!): Shepherd "Doosey", Retriever "Max", Cats "Grace" & "Gypsi", and a horse on the way when the fencing is done. Work: In my spare time I administrate and coordinate several homeschool programs, activities, and publishing work. Otherwise, I'm restoring our new old home. Hobbies: Still traveling, albeit not quite as far as I used to. Hoping to do those world jaunts again one day. Still breathing books and wearing out library cards! And if inspired, I do a little stitching. Dreams: To travel again extensively. Give resource support to ministries. Return to school to study community development and residential design. Note: I want all of my friends from childhood to know how much having known you meant and means to me. Circumstances through the years have separated us, but my memories will always be held dear. Your presence in my life helped make me who I am and developed how I treat people. For example, I will never pull out across a lane of traffic without thinking of Philip F's near death crash on Lebanon Rd. that I drove up on just moments after it had happened. I will always remember trying to beat Scott N. at multiplication tables in Mrs. West's class and best bud, Valerie and I asking our moms to send sandwiches wrapped in wax paper so we could "wax" the slide on the playground! I remember Laura B. being so so tall and how she was sadly teased (I learned to never tease by seeing how much it hurt you, but I bet you loved being ta...Expand for more
ll later!), and Irene being so sweet, camp with Amy H., singing to Barry Manilow on the bus with Kelly S. (oh horrors, can you imagine!), Angie and I being sent to the principals office for correcting our 6th grade teacher when she mixed up our names!, and then that trip to Italy (how many rum and cokes did we have anyway?)with Kari, who never meant to spill all those straight pins on my head!;-). I wonder if Mike H. remembers thinking it would be fun to smash my Bonnie Bell Orange Crush lip gloss into my braces? (my 6th grade nieces found that story very humorous!) Does the DCA 7th grade class remember the silliness of falling out of our desk chairs for an April Fools joke on the teacher? I know they remember voting for the name of our mascot to be the Wildcats and then who can forget Friday night football?! I know Stephanie F. remembers driving all over creation, playing mud football, sledding in the moonlight, and pushing bikes up our hill. I know I will never forget, while not in band myself, my band friends Kelly W. and Troy H. (for numerous and unmentionable teenage experiences including a big thanks for helping me figure out how to open the vent window on my Super Beetle with my KDF Rock Card when locked out). And none of us at DCA will ever forget Lance and the loss of a brother (that's how I felt when Nashville experienced its only, much less unnecessary, casualty of Desert Storm). I learned a lot and am proud to have all of those memories, whether good, stressful, or just plain ugly, as companions through the years. I hope your memories are just as dear. Workplace Scooping ice cream at Shelly's Cookies & Cream and handing out candy at Halloween as the pumpkin at Hello Kitty make fun first job stories for the kids. Grown up work has included Office Manager for pictorial directory co. and as a Church Weekday Preschool Developer. But the best job has to be being a mommy and home schooling my kids!
