Lydia's Story

Life After High School I went to Saint John and studied Nursing which I can honestly say I enjoy and love. I was fortunate to meet a wonderful man named Stephen, who is 3 years older than me. He was studying the orderly course because he was unable to get a job in his field of study, which was stationary engineer, when I met him, which was at the end of nurses training. After graduation from Nursing I worked full time at the old Saint John General in Obstetrics. After a whilrwind courtship, we were married 13 months after we met. I came to the Miramichi where Stephen is from and began to work casual at the Miramichi Hospital and then the Foyer Assomption in Rogersville. Then I was offered a full time job at Hotel Dieu in Chatham, NB. After 2 years of marriage we started our little family with Erin, now 23 and studying Education at UNB and 23 months later Adam, now 21 joined us. No wasted time. We moved to Loggieville when Adam was 6 months old to an old farmhouse with alot of land. This decision I will never regret because I was able to stay home and work casual in Obstetrics and be at home with our children. No babysitter was the first to witness my children's first steps and enjoy reading to them and having dances around the living room. I was fairly strict with our children but they tell me that they never doubted that I loved them. My husband is a bit of a pushover so someone had to...Expand for more
be the hard ass. Stephen and I are enjoying our empty nest. Adam is in Moncton working at Costco and Erin will soon graduate from UNB. Wedding bells will ring in the future for Adam and his girlfriend who is studying at U de M in the faculty of Nursing. Erin is still waiting for her Prince to come. We have had a succession of dogs and cats. We have had Mugsy, who presented us with 10 puppies the year after we moved to Loggieville. We kept one of her puppies and had to put her to sleep. Rowdy was a cutie who I had fixed at 6 months. She bit Adam when he was 6 years old and had to be put down because there were other children around. Adam then got Marty who after being Adam's friend and companion for 12 years was killed by a hit and run driver. I don't know who's heart was more broken his or mine. After a year I now have Molly who has to be one of the most vain, selfish dogs I have ever had. She's got alot of personality and I seem to be the only one she will listen to. Then there's Sassy, the cat who is 12 years old and has yet to forgive me for bringing Molly home. She followed, Mischa and other cats who are too numerous to mention. I love my life and I wouldn't trade it for all the money in the world. I thank God every day for my husband who loves me and the wonderful children we have. Religion is a big part of our lives because we really believe that it was God who brought us together.
