Betty's Story
Life
Hi everyone,
Life is good, no real complaints. I'm a bit of a free spirit. I've lived most of my time in Florida but I moved to Arkansas...between the two lakes back in 2006. It's beautiful here. Those of you who use to know me will be shocked to hear that I ... sky dive, scuba dive, water ski, mountain bike, ride motorcycle, camp out, and travel as much as I can to explore new places. Life is about living and that is something that I didn't understand as a kid...I was too afraid to take chances.
School
High school....well I've gotten a new perspective about it. I liked most of the subjects, most of the students and most of the teachers back then. I never wanted to miss a day not because I loved it so much but that I hated to stay home that much. I've come to understand the different personalities and social structures that exist in highschools. I still think an education is important and I guess that is why I have worked in the education field for almost 25 years. As far as the students and memories...it's all in the past and life is about the present and the future. The only good thing about the past is the lessons you learned and how you use them.
College
Some of you never thought I would make it through college but I did....I have an Assoc. degree in Travel and Tourism, an Assoc. degree in Early Childhood Education, a...Expand for more
dual Bachelors degree in Educational and Cultural Studies and a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership. No more homework for me though...I'm done, I think.
Workplace
Gosh, I've done alot of different things within the education field in the past 25 years. The short version is: I started out as a preschool teacher while going to college then advanced over the years to Executive Director. I've taught at the college and did workshops and conferences for crowds up to 200 people...my voice quivered every time I started out. Life should challenge you. When I moved to Arkansas, I got a job at an organization that does juvenile services which is affiliated with an alternative school for juveniles who are no longer able to go to public school for various reasons, mostly they are court appointed because of behavior issues. I started out doing the court work but later was asked to teach the G.E.D. program which I did. Since then I have "retired" from the education field completely...my free-spirit to travel got the best of me. My husband started a trucking business in 2006 and now I travel with him all over the country and I love it. It's not always glamourous but we love being together and traveling to new places. I'm thinking about writing children's books. Who knows you might someday be reading one of my books to your kids or grandkids.
