Eric's Story

Life quick bio: I lived in Beaverton, Oregon and attended Brown Junior High and Hillsboro High School until the end of my Junior year. Then i moved to Eastern Washington and attended Asotin High School for my senior year. After high school joined the Navy, moved to Florida for basic training and Nuclear Power School. Moved to Hawaii in 1998, got married in 1990, (had a daughter). moved back to Washington in 1992 (had another daughter). Moved back to Hawaii in 1996 (had a son). Moved back to Washington in 1999. (had a dog!). I have been in submarines since I joined the Navy, and the coolest thing I have done in the Navy was surfacing through the ice at the North Pole. I currently live in Seabeck, Washington (west of Seattle) and own a large home on several acres. I have a nice boat and enjoy salmon and halibut fishing when I can get out, I also really enjoy hunting. However, I spend most of my free time working on my home (wood floors, tile, landscaping, etc etc ...Expand for more
etc. The to do list is never-ending). I have been taking college courses while in the Navy and am only 12 credits away from a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering. I plan to finish it prior to retiring from the Navy next Halloween. My wife is a graduate of Oregon State University and currently works as a civilian for the DOD. My two older girls are both cheerleaders and my son plays sports year round. update 3/17/07 Retired from the Navy in October with exactly 20 years of service (you were right Shelly, I was a 20 year man!) I finished my degree in nuclear engineering and will be working as an engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard shortly. My email address is eric.spiegel at msn.com. update 6/25/08 I have the perfect job! I am an engineer with Naval Surface Warfare Center performing acoustic testing on submarines. I travel around the US and Abroad, and frequently between the Bahamas and Ketchikan, AK. It is the perfect mix of desk work and travel!
