Jennifer's Story
Life
After graduating from Job Corps I moved back to the Seattle area with my now ex Michael (if you went to school with us you know who he is) and at first went right back to work in fast food until I got a job with a collection agency where I spent about 3 years before moving up with another company handling due diligence processes for major banks and legal firms. After seperating from my ex I moved to the midwest to be closer to my mom and brother, and I met my fiance. I now work for the State of Iowa and I get to put a lot of the skills I obtained in Job Corps to use as I am employed in the Work...Expand for more
force Development division of the state, and I get to tell young people coming into my office all about how beneficial Job Corps is and what it did for me. I have had a lot of personal challanges to overcome in the last few years, both of my parents passed away, and my fiance was shot 7 times when I was 9 months pregnant, but life does go on and my fiance and I have a beautiful 1 year old son and we are both happy in our careers. I hope someday to relocate back to the Pacific Northwest, but for now I am happy where I am in life and I feel like I have done alot to get where I am and I am proud of that.
