Sharon's Story
Life
I have three children, sadly my youngest Heidi Lynne Haugen(1988 graduate of Beverly Hills Highschool) passed away from becoming toxic from overmedication by psychiatrists treating her for depression. She was anorexic and they just did not monitor her - she was 30.
I have formed a campaign FOR THE LOVE OF HEIDI- Eating Disorder Education Campaign and am traveling countrywide exhibiting her Eyes of the Soul Art Collection, speaking at highschools, colleges, and univesities and participating in legislative efforts in Wash DC and locally to promote new bills and lobby members of Congress to support changes in insurance companies discrimination in not providing adequate, if any, inpatient coverage, when the cost of treatment is 30-50,000 dollars per month!!!!
I am very active in NEDA (National Eating Disorder Assoc, based in Seattle) and ANAD, (Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders Association, based in Chicago)
I have resided in Beverly Hills, CA (where Heidi graduated) in San Francisco and in Palm Springs, CA (where Heidi died), and am now residing in Bullhead City, AZ., across the river from Laughlin, Nevada. ...Expand for more
We moved to Southern California in 1976 when I divorced Darrell Haugen, Heidi's father, class of 1958. Visit Seattle area often as my daughter Shannon lives in Snoqualmie,WA and my 22 yr old grandson lives in Marysville.
I have traveled through every state (by car, I am not a motor home person) especially to the Florida area and the Keys. Heidi and I traveled to Europe, Mexico, and Jamaica together and I have traveled other times to Europe and the Carribean
Islands and we drive to Cabo San Lucas and other points in Mexico often. Love it there!
I have attended all but the 10 yr Reunions.
For many years, I have been involved with promotional sales, marketing, etc. and did quite a bit of modeling in my younger days.
Love to live below the snow/rain line, only wear open toed shoes!
Love the heat, and swimming pools!!
Am enjoying retirement!! and participating in the projects involved with hoping to make a difference!!
Beginning in 2010, during our 50th Class Reunion I organized a GIRLIE LUNCHEON OF THE CLASS OF 60 and it is now becoming a yearly event for us Girls from Highline and Mt. Rainier High Schools!~!~
