Debra's Story

Well, where to start!! After high school I worked in Weyburn for a while. Had a son in July 1974. He passed away at the age of 1 week from SIDS. In December 1975 I had a daughter. I got married in August 1977. Had another son in October 1977. My husband worked for Pioneer Grain for a few years so we moved a lot. Then in July 1982 we came back to Weyburn to settle down. We lived on a farm from 1982-1986. Moved into Weyburn from October 1986-April 1995. We now live in Trossachs just outside of Weyburn. We lost our son on October 20, 2003 in Saskatoon at the age of 25, just 1 week before his birthday. He was saving the life of kid who then took our our son's life. We have 4 granddaughters. And my husband has been at his job now for 24 years and loves it. I am a full-time homemaker, wife and Grandma. We both are avid 5-Pin bowlers. I have my Level I Coaching Certification in 5-Pin Bowling. I am on the Executive of the Sask. 5-Pin Bowler's Association and Vice-President of the South Zone 5-Pin Bowler's Association. I am also the Secretary for the Weyburn 5-Pin Bowler's Associatin. My husband and I are also involved with our local Parks & Rec Board. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is John Scholp, because we lost touch when he moved to Quesnel, B.C. We always hung out together with a few others from school and always had a blast. His dad owned a furniture store in Weyburn. If I c...Expand for more
ould improve my home, I'd remodel the porch and add on a room for a hot tub.. My dream home would be big enough for my family to relax in. My most cherished trophy is the Gold Medal & Ladie's High 4-Game Plaque I received when I won the 1990-1991 Hiram Walker League Executive 5-Pin Bowling Provincial Championships~Secretary's Division. I got to go to Ottawa, Ontario to compete in the National Tournament. I placed 6th in all of Canada. We were given a tour of Ottawa in an articulating bus. It was quite an experience!! We also got to tour the Parliament Buildings. Our hotel was the Chateau Laurier which is right next to Parliament Hill. It was the trip of a lifetime. I also received an engraved plaque at the closing banquet. As of 2019, Danny & I have 4 Granddaughters~aged 24, 20, 18 & soon to be 15. We also have 2 Great-Granddaughters~aged 4(soon to be 5) & 1. The 4- year-old is in her 2nd year of Pre-K & loving it. We are no longer involved with the Parks & Rec Board as our bowling takes up a lot of our time as does our family. I am no longer on the South Zone Executive. I am still on the Sask 5 Executive as Recording Secretary & love it. We love going camping every summer & try to get out as often as we can. We go to a different park each time. Danny is still at the same job & looking forward to retirement in a few years. Last year(2018)in September, I lost my rsister, Helen. She had a massive heart attack at the age of 59.
