Kelly's Story
Life
Hi,
Since leaving high school I went one year to college. I then moved back to St Albans Vt, and worked. I became ill in 1985. I then met my husband in 1987 who was in the Navy in which I made my first move out of St. Albans, VT to Detroit MI. I then went to Tallahassee, FL. in 1989. I had my first son Sean on
May 9, 1991. We moved to Newport RI. In 1992 we moved to Cincinnati OH where I had my second son Scott born on March 21, 1993. We then moved to the west coast of San Diego, CA in 1995. Yes, the west coast is totally different from the east coast. We then moved to Alexanadria, VA where my ex husband Tom retired from the military. In 2004 we seperated after 17 years of marriage. I then met Andy who I moved in with during this time,I then became disabled withe the disease of RSDS. During the time I was married I worked in different jobs. While I was in Alexandria VA, I worked in a restaurant where I started as a...Expand for more
waitress and worked my way up to restaurant Manager. Tom and I sepereated so I changed jobs to spend more time with the boys. During the time I was seperated I met Andy and I became disabled once agian with the same disease as back in 1985. I am now in a wheelchair and learning a lot about the disabled life. This disease is simmilar to MS but more painful. This disease deals with your nerves and muscles. There is not a lot that they know about this disease.
My mom, brother Jeff, and sister Erin are still in St. Albans, VT. My dad, my brother Chad, and my sister Kerry are in parts of FL. My sister Shannon is in the state of NY.
I do love the area I am in I am close to Washington DC where there is some great opportunities and alot to see.
I hope this finds most of my classmates well.
I am now participating in a class called Partners in Policy Making Class Advocacy Training for Disabilities. This is through the state of VA.
