Shirley's Story
I was born and raised in Hattiesburg MS, therefore, I am a true Southerner. I attended Eureka until 1958. I began my freshman year in Picayune, MS in 1958 at Carver High School. I, then returned to Hattiesburg, Ms and our freshmen class was moved to W.H. Jones. Our class was the first to graduate from the new Junior High School.
I moved over into Jerusalem Quarters preparing to attend Royal Street, the name been changed to L.J. Rowan. I moved to Muskegon, MI before school began and attended Muskegon Heights high school from 1959 thru 1960. a Junior and the guy I met during the summer was going off to college. I was tom boyish so I joined the girls' basketball team and loved it.
I graduated in May,1962. I returned to Michigan after graduating in May. I
spent the summer in Benton Harbor, MI and returned to Hattiesburg, Ms. I was married in October of 1963. We left Mississippi for Muskegon, MI in 1969 and we are still here, at the present time. Our children are grown and self-sufficient and we are the grandparents of seven, four boys and three girls. The girls being the oldest(21)and the youngest(12),we now have our first great-grand son seven months old.
