Michelle's Story

Life We have 3 teenage daughters, Taylor (18), Amanda (17) and Emily (14). My oldest daughter just graduated from high school and I now have a senior and a freshman. I start nursing school this fall to get my RN. I plan to get my BSN from West Georgia and go into the Air Force Reserves as a Flight Nurse flying the wounded soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan to Germany and subsequently back to the US in medical planes. I also would like to become a Critical Care and Nurse Anesthetist and serve in Iraq at Balad Air Base as a Reservist and work in a trauma center here when not on duty. Currently, we live in a log home on Fort Mountain in Ellijay and generally live a laid back life. I work from home and own my own business. I love to bake and cook and my youngest daughter and I would love to open our own bakery one day. I have an unwaivering support for our nation's military and I have adopted a total of over 20 soldiers although some have come home already. I love to bake cookies for all of them and spoil them rotten. Although the total is just over 20, I also adopt their units, platoons or groups as well which greatly increases the number of cookies I ship! I currently send approximately 15 dozen fresh baked cookies a week to Iraq. I also have been given the opportunity to become a USO volunteer at the Atlanta Airport. This has been dream come true for me. I have pi...Expand for more
ctures of some of the soldiers I have adopted and some of the ones I have greeted in my photo album. I have truly been blessed and I wish everyone of you the best that life can bring!!!! Everyone here is healthy and happy and I hope you all are the same. School I loved French class and Mrs. Butts was the greatest. I loved the football games, pep rallies and dances and really loved filling out all those little index cards when we won the Bangles contest! I had so many wonderful friends and I am sure there are many more of you I never got to really know as our class was so huge! Workplace I currently am a nursing student at Dalton State College working toward my ASN and then I will transfer to West Georgia to finish my BSN and then onto the AF Reserves and also to get my Nurse Anesthetist degree. In 2002, I went to the Atlanta School of Massage where I graduated from the Neuromuscular Therapy Program. I have owned my own Massage Therapy business for 6 years and I am also a certified Yoga Instructor. I used all the Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Clinical Calculations, etc. etc. to also become a medical transcriptionist. I work from home over the internet on my own schedule. It gives me the flexibility to put my priorities first while still making a great living doing what I enjoy. There is never a dull moment! Hope life is treating you well!!!!
