Mark's Story
Life
Still in California, clowning around on the weekends, making extra money, making balloon animals.
I always wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right, but it never happened.
My current age is 52. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be flying . I was so completely wrong.
Eric R. is my oldest friend. I met him setting up for bingo at St. Hedwig. I don't know how it happened, but we hung around even after I moved from the neighborhood, and still keep in touch.
My first job was at First Federal Savings, which later became Citicorp Savings, where I got paid 475 a month to file check requsitions. What I remember most about it is my last position there, doing on-line letters on the computer for collections, and how we lost our jobs, when the department moved to St. Louis.
When Mick's friend was at the house waiting for him, and he saw my dog jump out the window, onto the little roof. He thought the dog committed sucide, but when the dog jump...Expand for more
ed back into the house,he was shocked. Until the day my father passed away, he told that story to everyone.
I always lived in Chicago, until my seizures started up again, and my brother got me disability, when I lost 2 jobs there. I was ordered by the judge to move here to get the disability, so here I am.
I had brain surgery in 1989, and was seizure free for 13 years, 9 of those years without medication. Then I was driving down Devon Avenue with Virginia and had one.
I have a cat Freekie, that I brought here from Chicago. While still in Chicago, my sister Linda had me call a radio station for there dating service. I talked to one lady, and she asked me if I had any pets. I told her yes, a cat. She asked what kind, so I told her, a black cat. She said, "I don't want to go out with you, if you have a black cat, their bad luck, and with those green eyes staring at me, I'll have nightmares." I told her, "lady that's wierd, and his name fits you perfitly." She asked, ' what's his name," and I said, "Freekie," and I never heard from her again.
