Janice's Story

This is really not a story about me but told by my puppy Lucy. If you have not seen her yet check out my picture album. Fast Trip to the Vet April 28th 2009 10:42 am Well I was out early on the lanai. Just sniffing around looking for bugs. I found one and started to play with it and mommy started yelling at me. I thought she was going to take my bug away from me so I picked it up fast and swallowed it. By this time mommy knew it was a bee. They sometimes get onto the lanai and wait for the sun to warm them up so they can go sniff the flowers. Mommy was so upset she called the vet. They told her if I started having problems to bring me in. Ha, I thought I have been bit by a bee before and all it did was swell up my nose and made me look like a Sharpei. I guess it was 30 minutes later that I started having trouble breathing. I just couldn't catch my breath. Mommy grabbed me up and into the car to the vet we went. I don't remember to much what was going, only that mommy was driving fast and I was pulling for breath. We got to the vet and had to stand on the scale again. I didn't know why I just wanted them to fix me. They took me into a room and wouldn't let mommy come with me. They gave me shots which really started to work and eased my breathing. They took me out to mommy and she just was so happy to see that I was doing better. We went outside and mommy sat on the bench while I was getting better. The vet did not want me to go home until I was breathing good. We finally got to leave and go home. I was so glad. What a morning and all this because of a stupid bug. I jumped up on the sofa on my spot with my blanket and slept most of the day. Mommy would come sit next to me sometimes and just pet me and talk to me. I was so sleepy I could barely open my eyes and look at her. It felt good when mommy was petting me because I knew that I was not alone and mommy was close by. Now every morning mommy goes on bug patrol on the lanai to make sure no bees are laying around. She says I probably would not learn from that mistake and she want...Expand for more
s to make sure that it will not happen again. I hope she is right. My Trip to the Vet September 16th 2008 1:09 pm Today mommy took me to the vet. I wasn't afraid. I just walked right in to the office. I will say I sniffed around and was curious. They had me to stand on the machine and said to mommy I weighed 37 pounds. It must have been ok as mommy said I was a good girl. Next mommy and I went into a room that had lots of smells in it. That kept me busy until the nurse came in and asked mommy all sorts of questions. I had to go with the nurse but mommy gave me a kiss on the head and said go be a good girl. And I was because I wanted to please mommy. The nurse took blood out of my leg, gave me a shot in the neck and two shots in my rump. I was such a good girl. The nurse brought me back to the room and mommy was there to give me a hug. Then we were alone. After a bit this tall man walks in and lets me smell his hand. He was ok and we got along just fine. He picked me up and put me on the table. Mommy was there so all was good. The man just petted me and listened to my heart and did some poking around. He told mommy I was really fit and I looked great. I think I smiled when I looked at mommy. She was so proud of me. Then he told mommy I had long whiskers. I don't know what that means but maybe they help me when I look for bugs. We left the room so mommy could pay the bill and right there by mommy's foot was a moth. She didn't even see it. She was so close she could have picked it up. I pounced on it and mommy turned to see what I was doing. She kept telling me to drop that icky bug and don't you eat it. Well I chomped on it several times and finally decided it didn't taste good so I spit it out. Mommy said Good Girl but she didn't have a clue that the bug just wasn't on my good list to eat. The nurse got some toilet paper and picked it up and I went with her while she flushed it down the toilet. I wanted to make sure no other animal would eat that icky thing. So all in all it was a good day. Mommy and I went home and I took a nap.
