Barbara's Story
I moved to Destin Florida (about 60 miles east of Pensacola) on the Gulf of Mexico in August iof 1990. I spent my senior year of high school here in FL, which was a little culture shock, but a welcome change. Destin is a "tourist" town and we are called the official "Emerald Coast" due to the beautiful emerald waters that only exist in this area, along with the sugar white sand. my Third Degree Black Belt. I also was a reserve law enforcement officer with the local sheriff's dept for 10 years, of which I medically retired. I now work in the medical field as a medical coder. Now I take nice long walks on the beach with my dogs. My husband of 18 years works long, crazy hours at the hospital, and we are like 2 ships passing in the night most of the time; bu that only makes the time we get to spend together all that more special. We do try to get away for a few days here and there to try to make up for lost time.
