Debra's Story

Life Hello Everyone - I haven't seen any of you since graduation and have been wondering what has happened to all of you. I have been in the retail field most of my life working for such stores as John Wanamakers, Macy's and the Lord and Taylors of the world. I specialize in diamonds and precious stones. I have been married 4 times, but twice to the same person - so really that only counts as 3... I have lived most of my life in the Maryland area but have recently moved to Colorado. I live in between Denver and Colorado in a small town called Castle Rock. I never had children and when you put it all down on black and white it sure looks like I have goofed off for the past 30 years, doesn't it ? Oh well, there it is folks. Hope to hear from some of you that remember me and for the rest that don't, GET OUT YOUR YEARBOOKS! Does anyone know how to get a copy of a yearbook? I have lost my graduation yearbook 1977. School I loved going to ECS - The biggest crush was on a boy named Kenny but he loved Diane Prevento...I also secretly loved Mr. Cook but it only came out in bad behavior and he paddled my butt out in the hall because I rolled my eyeballs one too many times. Me and Debbie Lowe were pretty good friends in school and I remember we were eating oreo cookies in the stairwell going somewhere and we decided to show each other our oreo coated teeth. We laughed in the stairwell for a long time. I also remember admiring an amethyst ring that Joanne Rash's grandmother had given her and I accidentally stepped on it and broke the shank. She gave me the ring and I wore it for years with the broken back and all. I can't remember the music teachers name but he was trying to teach us something and we were making him so crazy he flung his hand and arm out so hard that his wedding ring went sailing off the entire length of the church auditorium. Ah, good times... We had a bus driver so short she had to peek over the bus steering wheel and I used to pray to God that when we went over this certain curve on a rainy day over a railroad bridge that we wouldn't slide off and plummet to our much too early death. One of our teachers was sitting on his desk out in the trailers and his zipper was down and Danny Scott went up to him and told him discreetly about the situation. That poor, embarrassed teacher slid off that desk like hot butter and ran out of the door to remedy the problem Speaking of the trailers, I remember someone shooting spitballs at the blackboard during preclass prayer time. No names will be given Richard Justice or Billy Wissenger or whoever it was. We had this poor, defenseless guy in our class and the boys were so mean that they rolled him in the ditch behind the trailers and took his "manny" socks. One time I went into the trailers to get my lunch bag with my buddy Debbie Miller and someone, who shall remain nameless, was in the dark, shadowy room scratching her nails down the blackboard for something to do. These things never leave the human mind. Once when we were to put on a Chri...Expand for more
stmas play, I was to play an angel and it was my job to hold up my arms as this angel in glory to God. I thought I was going to die - it was a long time of having to hold up the arms, guys. The play, however, was cancelled due to a snowstorm and it made me a believer in miracles. I was also paddled by another teacher and the only girl to be suspended from going on my senior class trip - I think this is when I started dating Benny Bullock as he was one of the 8 boys that got suspended, too. I must have been a nightmare for my poor teachers and not to mention my parents. And just think, my parents had to sacrifice to send me there for all those years. My mother told me repeatedly how she had to wait 7 years before she could afford to buy this certain chair for her living room. I felt bad. But, years later I appreciate all the help I got from my parents and teachers and would not trade those schools days at ECS for anything. College Okay, here's my big college days...I did really good in High School grade wise but really am not a higher education person, hence my tortued life in retail... I went briefly to Cecil Community College where I met my first husband, Chuck Gregg. I went to elementary school with him and his desk was so messy inside that I told the teacher and she went over and turned his desk upside down. All the messy contents were all over the floor and he had it all up and put it back in his desk while we were watching. I should have known in second grade that this was not the man for me. Years and less pounds later I met Chuck again at CCC. I went for a little awhile, dropped out and married Chuck. He fell head over heels a year later for my best friend Debbie Lowe and went to Mexico and mailed me divorce papers. I haven't seen her since 1979. Anybody know where she is? So, if any of you have kids that don't want to go to college, let them read this scary story. Workplace You know it's embarrassing really to write down my work history, but who cares it's an honest living. I have worked retail for 30 thirty, scary years. you will learn alot about humans and their freaky behavior in that amount of time as well as running across a few lunatics as well. I have done exclusive selling in some for the finest department stores around and I have been a waitress in my grandmother's restaurant. I worked as a checker in Pathmark where I met my 3rd (and 4th) - that's right, I married him twice.., husband. I have stood up for 30 years 8/9 hours a day - how many of you can bragg about that?!! I want a diploma for endurance. I have waited on the rich and the poor and everybody inbetween. I am an ambassador of stuff! The couple that sticks out the most is who we called the "Green Acres" couple. She looked like she stepped out of a Victorian novel and he wore nothing but a tattered coat and purple socks and sandals. He had to hold his coat in the back with one hand because the seam of the coat was ripped out all the way up to the collar. I have a thousand more of those stories.
