Lisa's Story
I left Avalon in 1976. After a few adventures in the city, I moved to Mt Shasta and got hooked on mountain sports. Over the next 13 years I lived in Yosemite, Tetons, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada etc. Taught skiing, worked as mule packer, was a climbing guide. Wound up on the ocean around 1989 and fished sea urchin and caught live fish for about 2 years. Moved to Mendocino in 91, did T.V. there for 7 years: theater and music mostly. I had a girl- Larissa in 1999 and then moved to the high desert the same year. Went back to college. Earned a B.A. in anthropology and Masters in environmental studies from CSUSB. I currently am adjunct professor at Copper Mountain Community College...Expand for more
here in Joshua Tree where I teach astronomy and environmental science.
After 6 years, Bruce and I married in Dec, 07. He is a geologist so we spend a lot of time outdoors, collecting, mapping, etc...
Larissa and Bruce, along with traveling, science and nature make the world revolve 4 me. We are planning on returning to Nepal to work for one of that country's many environmental groups after he retires in 2013.
My mother Shirley passed away on July 10th. We will be putting a memorial plaque for her in the Avalon cemetery soon.
No religion- gave it up after 22 years- and good riddance! Life is good, in spite of setbacks and losses. I hope that yours is good also!
Cheers!
