Michael's Story
Lori, Anna(12), Matthew(12), James(15) and I live in the greatest spot on the face of the earth Westford,
Vermont. We love it. As you can see from the pics, the kids love sports and the list of sports they don't do is shorter than the list of those in which they participate. We ski as often as we can up at Smuggler's Notch and I am very proud to say that the kids can ski just about anywhere on the mountain. It's a great family activity.
Lori teaches special ed at Essex High School and really enjoys it.
I work for IBM's research division and my role is to license intellectual property created by people much smarter than I am to the rest of the world. We moved to Rochester new york in the late 90's to be with Lori's parents who both became ill. My father-in-law, who grew up in Barre, decided he wanted to spend his waning years back in Vermont so he and my mother-in-law moved to Stowe. Lori and I then packed up the kids and moved them to Westford. I took a job as general counsel for the Bruegger's Corporation (of bagel...Expand for more
fame). I enjoyed the job because it was heavily tilted towards the business end of the business but, alas, the got rid of their IT department, their marketing department and their legal department (me) to make themselves more attractive to prospective investors. I then took a job with IBM and worked a couple of years with a group of lawers who negote deals that other folks brought to IBM. After doing a deal with Microsoft, the business team in charge of the deal asked me if I was intersted in owning my own deals and doing something other than law. I jumped all over it. I did that for several years before the division was subsumed by another division within IBM. When that happened I was asked to move to NYC..... We had a family discussion and the verdict was unanimous, STAY IN VERMONT. I found my current job about 9 months ago and very much enjoy it.
Keep in mind that our 30th (yes 30th...) is coming up in 2011. We are going to try to pull something together. Let me know if you are interested in helping out.
