Sandra's Story
Life
After graduating from good old SHS, I headed for Boston University. Spent a semester in Madrid, Spain my junior year, and graduated in 1990 with my journalism degree and Spanish minor. I very naively married too young (21), worked various jobs in desktop publishing in the Boston area and got divorced on 1994. Met my husband, Rick, a Marine recruiter shortly after, he got orders to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC, in 1995 and we've been here ever since. We married in Feb. 1996 and my 4-lb. preemie Sasha was born in Sept. She's almost 11 now, going into 6th grade and is a good kid - a big help with her little brother, does very well in school, reads all the time and takes ballet. And she's almost as tall as her grandmother! My surprise baby, Tony, arrived in July 2005 - he's a terrible 2 right now but he's funny, slightly rotten (like his Dad, I'm sure!) and keeps us on our toes.
Rick's a Master Gunny and retires in mid-2008. We plan to...Expand for more
head back north to be closer to family - mine is now in CT & Mass and his in NH. We'll probably settle in NH or Maine.
I've kept busy with the kids, volunteering and self-employment. I make wedding invitations, baby announcements - all kinds of social stationery and I also sell stuff on eBay. I've been president of the Enlisted Spouses Club on base for the past six years and we've raised thousand of scholarship dollars for dependant spouses and kids over the years. I opened a consignment shop a an ongoing ESC fundraiser 4 years ago. For fun, I bowl on two leagues and annually take part in the Women's National Bowling Tournament. I'm not exactly a pro but I made a few bucks in prize money this year! The trips are more about some me time with my friends, good food and laughs and a little break from Mommyhood!
I keep in touch with a few SHS classmates and a few BU classmates but I'd love to hear from more! I'm online a lot so email me and say Hi...
