Anita's Story
Life
I lived in the same house all my growing up years until I got married. We lived at the top of a hill in our own little community where everyone knew everyone. We had a great bunch of families with kids of all ages for all of us to have a great time. We could stay out late and play ditch em (hide and seek) with all the neighborhood kids from all ages around the two blocks till the wee hours of the morning and not be afraid. Put our tent up in our yard and sleep outside. Play touch football with the boys and baseball, or just hang out on the cement street and see who showed up to play four square, dodge ball, ride our bikes, roller skate, hoola hoop, whatever idea we came up with. It was great times. I started school at Whitmore when I was 4 years old, because my birthday was in September, they let you do that back then. I was one of the youngest in my class. After Whitmore I went to Rosedale and in 6th, 7th and 8th grade it was 7th grade thru 12th grade. My first day at Rosedale, the 11th and 12th graders were so TALL, and when you asked them directions, they would send you to the oposite side of where you wanted to go, and laugh about it. They thought they were being funny. When I was in 9th grade J.C. Harmon School was ready for the 10th thru 12th grade and we merged with Argentine, so us 9th graders was the head of the school. It was not as crowded that's for sure. Then 10th thru 12th I went to J.C. Harmon. I was in the band (played the flute), but had to quit the band because I got on the drill team, which that class was at the same time as the band. My band teacher was so mad. I can say my school days growing up was a great time in my life I have no regrets only great memories of it. I was not interested in going to College, it was not that important to me, so I started working instead. Now I go to work, come home, and then do it all over again. uneral Director. Then he will work with his Dad at Simmons Funeral Home, established in 1882, Jason will be the 6th generation. UPDATE: Well that got changed in 2007 one semester left for Jason to graduate Gary's Dad (Don Simmons) sold Simmons Funeral Home to Maple Hill Funeral Home !!!!! it was Simmons Funeral Homes 125th year, instead of celebrating 125 years it was being sold. So now Jason works for Garmin and works at Maple Hill part time. Gary now works for Maple Hill Funeral Home full time. We don't talk to Don Simmons very much anymore. Danny attended KU and got a degree as an Aero Space Engineer. Now he is going back in September 2009 to get his Masters Degree in Business. I have been working in insurance for 20 years. I really like it. Gary and I love to travel but two of the places we keep going back to is Cozumel, Mexico, Gary likes to Scuba Dive and I like to snorkel and Jasper, Arkansas where we camp and canoe alot, on the Buffalo National River, it's so beautiful there. Sometimes our friends from school go with us. We have two beautiful dogs (beagles) that give us a lot of joy.
Workplace
after High School I worked at Farmers Insurance, Montgomery Ward Credit Office, part time at K-mart (while my kids were little), Jones Distribution Center, Farm Plan, NCAA for 4 years, Turner High School as a secretary in the Guidance Office, and where I am currently at Federated Rural Electric Insurance Exchange for the last 22 years.
Military
My Mom and Dad was in the Army in World War II
My nephew Randy is in the Army stationed in Germany
I myself have never been in the military, but I do support our troops. I am so proud of all of them, because without them we would not have freedom and Freedom is not free. Hooray for the U.S.A.

I am going to be a Grandma April 24, 2011, I am so excited !!!! Danny got married to Wendy last year, and they are going to have a baby. Jason owns his own home in Rosedale of all places. He is not married, he is looking for a girlfriend right now.
