Susan's Story
Life
Born in 1957 in Fitzgerald, GA. Attended Lynnwood School 1-8 grades, then Fitzgerald High School, graduating in 1975. Got married to Alan Westberry February 7, 1975. We spent a year in Holland with the Air Force, then a year at Moody AFB in Valdosta, then back to Fitzgerald. Had three children: Lori in December 1976, Robin in March 1978, and Matt in November 1986.
I worked various jobs over the years (just about everything): clerk in a fast food/convenience store (father-in-law's), clerk/typist for Army Corps of Engineers, waitress, dance instructor, bank teller, drove catering truck, swimming pool builder, executive secretary, insurance agent.
Alan and I celebrated out 32nd anniversary earlier this year. After his three years in the Air Force, we moved back to Fitzgerald where he worked for the railroad until he began his own insurance agency in 1988. I joined him as an agent in 1989, and we operated that agency full-time until we sold it in 2002. Alan suffers from multiple sclerosis. I am currently an art major in college at ABAC. ot of time with family and friends and enjoy traveling, seeing new places, touring art museums, trying new and/or exotic restaurants, and going to blues festivals and other music venues.
We home schooled our children for several years: Lori and Robin, three years in high school, and Matt five years in elementary school. Both daughters have dual degrees. Lori has a cosmetology degree and a degree in photography. She combines the two fields in her photography work. Robin has a cosmetology degree and a nursing degree. She is working as a nurse. Matt is single (but usually in a relationship),still in college, and is studying nursing. Both daughters are married and have children. Lori has two boys, ages 7 and 6 months. Robin has two girls, ages 8 and 5. Both Alan and I have lost our fathers, but our mothers are still living and are within 5 miles of our home. We enjoy having them around and spending time with them--my mom is almost 89 and Alan's is 71.
We live in a subdivision in the country on 6 acres and enjoy our privacy and quiet, friendly neighborhood.
