Richard's Story
Life
I live with my wife Cindy the Tampa, FL area. (Imagine going to the beach and the water is WARM!) We have been married 21 years.
My first career was in ministry. Both my wife and I have degrees in youth ministry. We also attended seminary in Johnson City, TN where I was also pastor of a church. It was very cool to be ordained together. Cindy is a very gifted youth minister, and was asked to speak at a workshop for the National Youthworkers Convention.
Both of us have had some painful experiences working for churches, so we have moved on into other careers, so that we can simply volunteer at the church.
When we moved to Florida, I went to work for Child Protective Services as a child abuse investigator. That will burn you out quickly! I have always liked to teach (my favorite part of ministry) so I moved into teaching. Presently, I teach 7th & 8th grade Severely Emotionally Disturbed kids.

the way, I have also been a residential treatment counselor at a psychiatric facility and homeless shelter director.
Much of my free time is taken up with helping out with our church. (Water's Edge Church, Wesley Chapel, FL see "connectingfaith.com"
I love living in Florida. The weather in the winter is amazing. We average around 70 throughout the winter. The beaches are great. Siesta key, about an hour south of here has the most amazing white sand. It's almost the consistency of talcum powder. AMAZINGLY soft. The water in the Gulf ranges from about 70 to about 90. We like to go out at sunset, and just sit in the water with waves lap around us watching the sunset. You can't beat God's jacuzzi. I have always liked thunderstorms and now I live in thunderstorm capital of the country. During the summer we have a short thunderstorm almost every evening about 5:00.
If you are visiting Florida, let me know.
