Jennifer's Story

I was Jennifer Camp back in 1986 when I started my freshman year as "that homeschool girl" as the first high schooler to homeschool through KCS's umbrella program. Over the next four years I was on campus often, helping in the lunch room, with Mrs. Daniels' kindergarten class, chior, student leadership and more. I felt very much a part of the student body by graduation in 1990. A month after leaving for The Master's College in southern CA I became very ill. It took many months to find out that I had CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome). Shortly after getting sick I met Rick Saake and we became engaged the following spring. I stayed in school for 2 semesters then moved back to my parents house in Lemoore and slept 18-23+ hours per day for the next several months, leaving the house mostly only for doctors appointements. Rick and I were married in August of 1992, almost 2 years after the onset of CFIDS. (I am still in awe that God could give Rick the unconditional love to see past my illness and be willing to promise "for better or for worse" knowing full well that I was coming at my worst.) I was still very sick but able to be out of bed usually a few days a week by the time we married. My health gradually improved over the years, with frequent ups and downs, and I slowly became strong enough to lead a somewhat normal, yet quiet, life as long as I carefully paced myself. We lived in northern CA for about 5 years. During that time we miscarried our first daughter, Noel, and had 4 adoption losses and started a ministry for families facing infertility and pregnancy/infant loss called Hannah's Prayer - Hannah DOT org . We then moved to Nevada, bought our first home, had three more adoption losses, and were finally blessed with our first living son the week of Christmas, 1999! :D Following his birth we lost two more babies, Joel and Hannah, then welcomed our first living daughter in 2003! When she was 10 months old I received a contract to write a book on infertility and miscarriage for NavPress...Expand for more
. Hannah's Hope: Seeking God's Heart in the Midst of Infertility, Miscarriage & Adoption Loss hit bookstore shelves around Mother's Day, 2005, about the same time that I learned that our second living son was on the way - he was born a months early, just 2 days before his sister's 3rd birthday in early 2006. We are thankful to have the joy of homeschooling our own miracles and are loving the My Father's World - mfwbooks DOT com - program, along with involvement in our local homeschool co-ops. I also maintain several blogs (a few are listed at the end of this post) so manage to always have more ideas going through my head than I can keep up with! LOL I also am a Fashion Consultant with Gurrlie Girl¿ Christian Jewelry and also a Beauty Advisor with Affordable Mineral Makeup¿. In mid 2007 I experienced a significant relapse of my CFIDS symptoms (they had never fully resolved, but had been relatively managable for the majority of the past several years) and as I write this in late 2008 I am still struggling to regain the ground lost last year. I am very thankful that a world-class research facility will be opening in 2010 - wpinstitute DOT org - and am hopeful that their research might hold some keys to helping me overcome the daily pain and fatigue of this illness. While I am not able to juggle writing another book right now, I hope to someday write a Hannah's Hope-style book focused on the life of Paul and his "thorn in the flesh" as an encouragement for others living with chronic pain and health challenges. In the meantime I am keeping several blogs ranging for beauty, infertility, parenthood, homeschooling, and encouragement in hard times. Check out a few of my sites: - Hannah's Hope book and infertility blog - HannahsHopeBook DOT com - Harvesting Hope from Heartache¿ encouragement blog - HarvestingHope DOT blogspot DOT com - Beauty Blog - InnerBeautyGirlz DOT com - Affordable Mineral Makeup¿ - InnerBeautyGirls DOT com - Gurrlie Girl¿ Christian Jewelry gurrliegirl DOT com/consultants/find/info/?id=1136
