Life
Hi to all from class of 1975. Wow, it has been 32 years since graduation. I have not had a productive life as far as relationships go. I am divorced too many times and currently single living in Rapid City, SD. I did finally sober up as I have not had a drink of alcohol with a sobriety date of April 18, 1982. I joined AA(Alcoholics Anonymous in Brookings). After sobering up, I attended Sout Dakota State University and received my BS degree with a major in Sociology-Human Services Option and minor in Criminal Justice. My professional work has mostly been in the area of Social Services/Child Protection as I worked quite a few years on three of the largest Lakota Reservations in SD which were Cheyenne River, Rosebud and Pine Ridge. I finally had enough of the tiresome work and finally landed a job with Behavior Management Systems in Rapid City working with the mentally handicapped adults and I love it! My two children Jennifer and Derek still reside around Egan. Jennifer has two children--a son Tanner and daughter Morgan. So, yes I have two grandchildren. I working my way out of debt at this moment and live with relatives in Rapid City. Oh yes the video lottery got me into another addiction to where I am working at overcoming this addiction with a 12 step group in Rapid City of Gambler's Anonymous. I have over eight months of not gambling now. I am doing pretty good considering where I was a year ago with the gambling addiction.The regret I have is losing out on visits with my children and grandchildren as I spent lots of time gambling. I turned 50 last year and looked into the mirror and said to self, "I need to quit this gambling". So then I moved to Rapid City from the Pine Ridge ...Expand for more
Reservation and been here ever since last May, 2006. My mother is still alive, but as most of you know my father died in 1982. I hope the next coming years will be productive for me in completing my career here in Rapid City working at Behavior Management Systems. They are a fine organization to work for and have good bosses. I live life today one day at a time as I continue this journey on earth. I have seen a lot in SD since graduation. The states I have been to are:California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Kentucky, Tennesee, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and of course North Dakota. I have also been to Canada. I hated California as we were near LA and that was enough for me! I hate crowds too. Although if I was in the Metrodome watching my favorite baseball team the Twins I would not complain at all! I think there is no more room in my life to have a lasting wife to end my last years. I am getting so I would simply accept the single life as I had my chances and they all did not turn out. I need to stay sober of alcohol and not gamble too! So far so good. My health has been somewhat shaky too as I have had two back surgeries, and some heart problems. I needed angioplasty in 2000 as they put in a steth in one artery. They also cleared another artery that was partially clogged. I feel fine today and happy that I could make another day in this world when I awake. I regret too for not attending any class renunions that I may have missed out. I hope to make the next one, but do not know when it will be.
