Alicia's Story

When my family left Grand Forks AFB, we were transferred to Kadena Air Base on Okinawa, Japan. I graduated High School at Kadena High. 2 wks before I turned 18 I found out I was pregnant with my first child. I gave him up. The hardest thing I had ever done in my life. They named him Daine Michael. My Dad got transferred back to the States in May of 1991, to Griffis AFB, Rome, NY, which is now closed. I moved in with my Grandparents in Binghamton, NY, to start my own life. I met my husband at work, in Sept. 1991. He was married at the time. We started as friends and it just progressed from there. In the meantime he had a son in March 1992, got divorced in 1993 and we moved in together and had our first child together in Oct. 1993, Cheyenne Billene Elliott. We were ready to split up when I found out I was pregnant with our 2nd child, it kept us together and she was born in Aug. 2002, Summer Rose Elliott. We had been discussing marriage off and on. When he was ready, I wasn't and whe I was, he wasn't. We had more problems and I left him in Jan.2004 and moved in with my mom and her fiance, and my sister, Kera even put me up for awhile. I found out I was pregnant with our 3rd child that February and Leonard was coming up for supervised visits. He proved that he changed and we eventually started a whole new relationship and got back together and started going back to church. Our son, Lakota Blake Elliott, was born Sept. 2004. Our pastor married us July 9,2005. Our relationship has been the best ever. We still have a lot of hardships, mainly financial, but we can now get through just about everything. We are paying a mortgage on a home we closed on Feb. 20, 2007. I like to joke and say that Leonard and I did everything...Expand for more
backwards. We had our kids 1st, then got married and then the home. Len works for the local paper as a driver and I work for Endicott Coil, as an assembler. I have been with them for 3 yrs as of Jan. My hands are always full, with juggling work and dealing with my kids. I'm happy and content now. I could use more money, but who couldn't? LOL. I met my oldest son, Daine for the 1st time since I gave him up. I met him the day after Christmas, last yr. (2006). I was so nervous and scared. It was a great experience and Chey. and him hit it off real well. They have soo much in common it is really scary. He just turned 17 on Feb. 24th. My whole family has been invited to Ohio, next year, 2009 to see Daine graduate. I'm really excited, but still scared. His parents and I keep in contact and He usually stays in touch with Chey. I'm letting him move at his own pace when it comes to his relationship with me. I don't regret my decision one day. He couldn't have better parents. He was brought up in a good Loving, Christian family. That's all any mother could ask for. Today is Oct.9,2008. To update everyone. My husband now has a job with Direct TV, installing satellite dishes, etc. It pays what he and I were making together, before. I got fired from Endicott Coil in April for missing too much time. Hey, that's ok, because my family comes first. Chey just started her first yr of HS, Summer is in 1st grade, and Lakota is in Pre K. My husband and I have decided to wait for me to go back to work, as we have no way to get our son to school, because our sitter doesn't drive. I really don't trust anyone else with my children, besides her. I have thought about taking some online courses, if we can afford them, but we will see.
