Carrie's Story
Life
Hello friends! Well much has changed over the last 20 years. I went to UC Irvine and graduated in 1991 with my BA in Cognitive Science (basically Psychology). Two months later, I got married. I substitute taught for a while and we started our family. After Marilyn was born in 1993, we decided to move to Colorado. We lived there 6 years and had two more children; James and Katie. During that time, I stayed home with the kids during the day and did a few part time jobs on the side. It was really important to me to be the one to raise my children, so we were fortunate that I was able to work only part time. In 1999 we moved to Temecula, CA. We love the weather in Temecula and the children have lots of friends. I still miss all my Colorado buddies, though. I try to visit whenever we are back there seeing Tom's family. In 2000, I went back to school to get my teaching credential. I have been teaching ever since. I love it! I teach first grade at a private Christian school called Linfield. All my kids attend there too, since it is a K-12. Now my children are 14, 12, and 10. They are growing up so fast. Tom is doing extremely well as a professional civil engineer. We are coming up on 16 years...Expand for more
of marriage this summer. Things haven't always been perfect, but God is good. I am so thankful for the many blessings He has given me. I hope you all are well and that life has been good to you, too.
Love,
Carrie
School
My favorite teacher was Mr. Reed, by far. My favorite activities were the two musicals I was in...The Wiz and Bye Bye Birdie. I also loved working on the yearbook staff. I can't believe I have a daughter going to high school this fall. WOW! Time sure flies. I'm thankful for the fun times at SHHS.
College
UC Irvine was a fabulous school. I had lots of fun...met my husband...finished my bachelor's degree. College was a lot of work for me...a lot harder than high school. I grew up a lot at college and by the time I graduated, many of my priorities had changed. I went to Irvine career focused, and came out family focused. It's interesting how time changes your perspective on life.
Workplace
I am a teacher at Linfield Christian school in Temecula, CA. I teach first grade and I absolutely love it! It is a blast to come to work each day and have 21 children adore you. It's quite an ego booster. I love working at Linfield. It's a great place to raise my kids.
