Robert's Story
Life
Lots of water over the proverbial dam since high school and college! I'm now in my second marriage, living in Columbus, Ohio, and have three grown kids from marriage #1 and two grown stepkids from marraige #2. All together, I have six grandkids. At home right now, there's just my wife, Susan, a retired psychiatric nurse, and our dog, Spooky, a 16 year old terrier still in amazing health, and then me.
I spent 24 years teaching middle school language arts, then took a new turn in a new career move. I headed for seminary in my mid-forties, was ordained a Lutheran pastor, and served a congregation for two years. Since then, I have been working as a hospital chaplain in an exciting level one trauma center...Expand for more
that serves most of central and southern Ohio. My hospital, Grant Medical Center, has been featured on "Trauma: Life in the ER" on the Learning channel. I generally do the Friday and Saturday night shifts and others as needed (I'm a contigent chaplain), so I get to see some crazy stuff. One of the really neat parts of the job, too, is that I have four former students working with me: a trauma surgeon, an ER nurse, a Labor and Delivery nurse, and a Cardiac unit nurse, so it is really neat to be able to work with these folks in such a different setting where we can be equals and collegues.
According to the screen, I've got almost 3000 characters left. Maybe I'll think of something else worth adding later.
