Wanda's Story

I will try to keep this as simple as possible. I have changed alot from my school days. Been married to Stan for 34 years, some good, some not so good, but we stuck it out and now it's great. We live on Whiskey Bottom Rd. Laurel. Raised our 2 children, Mellissa and Stan Jr. in Savage. I have 2 grand daughters Anna 7, & Lauren 5 (both belonging to Mellissa and Greg Cook). They are the most wonderful gifts that could have ever been given to me on this side of heaven. My daughter Mellissa has become my best friend, especially when I was diagnosed 6 years ago with breast cancer Surprise .That was my big surprise for my life. She was the one that kept me going, along with Anna and Lauren on the way. I still have lots of things to do with them so I'm hanging around for quite a while. My son Stan become a firefighter,Emt. He joined the Army after high school. Was sent over seas for 1 year aug 2002, 2 days after he married Gail.I am so proud of him in so many ways. He risks his life every day trying to save others and fighting for our freedom. He is a truly giving person. He has 3 step children, Brittanee 21, kyle 18, Kaylee 16 and 1 grand child Jake. His wife is older than him so he is a grandfather before being a father. I'm still a little on the wild side but in a differant way. I am a hairstylist now and loooove it. If it's a funky doo you want I'll give it to you. I've let my experience with cancer teach me that tomorrow is not a gaurantee. I usually change my hair color once evry 6 weeks, my favorites are purple, burgandy and platnium. It is always short so I spike it every day. I pierce my own ears, 7 in one and 8 in the other. I also have 7 tattoos and ride a motorcycle, honda shadow 600 (its purple/blue). Stan has a trike motorcycle honda vtx 1800 (purple/blue). We look like twins going down the road except he has an extra wheel. We try to raise as much money as we can for breast cancer research, I don't want to worry that my girls might end up with this horrible disease. We are doing the May 30th-June 1, dg, ram We hope to raise $1,000.00 this year.Feel free to visit the site If you want to contribute or join my team please do so. We try to spend as much time on our bikes as we possibly can. It is wonderful. We also have a 1971 El Camino (purple/blue). We like to drive around in it and go to places where everyone goes to show off their cars. My first job was 7/11. Hated it. My best friend in high school was Cheryl Gibson. We hung out a lot together. Had tuna sandwiches and sweet tea everyday after school. I still dress like a hippie sometimes. I have My grand daughters wearing tie died shirts, peace signs on their clothes and saying cool, groovey, farout and cherry. My daughter hopes they will grow out of it soon. (Not if I'm still around). I actually showed up at our 30th reunion and was the ONLY one dressed in 70's clothes. Which were all original. What was up with everone else the theme was the 70's right? I've been able to get through a lot of things that go with cancer but if it were not for my Lord ...Expand for more
and Savior Christ Jesus I would not be the person I am today. I know I do some crazy things sometimes but he still loves me and died for me. On my really crazy days I am so thankful that my Dr. is willing to give me great meds. I would hope that my old friends would remember me as a free spirited, not afraid to try anything once and always trying to keep a smile on my face even though my life was very different than anyone else knew or saw. Took my grand daughters fishing for the 1st time aug.1 2009. IT DID NOT TAKE THEM LONG TO LEARN HOW TO CAST THERE LINE. Check out my photo's to see them with there BIG fish. We spent 4 hours at the pond. It was the most wonderful time with my girls. They can't wait to go back again. while riding my bicycle the front wheel came off and I landed on a stack of bricks, my teeth were so damaged I had to have some removed then and some later. My first job was at 7/11 at Gorman Rd., where I got paid 2.75 to 3.50. What I remember most about it is too many theives and they were mostly people from school so I was afraid to say any thing in fear of retalliation. Janet Riddle, I'm not realy sure what made us click, she was the opposite of me. In 10 years, I hope to be alive. I'm going to get there by trying to keep my cancer under control. In 10 years, I hope to be the best grandma that ever existed. I'm going to get there by spending lots of fun and interesting time with my girls. won trophey during savage fest for best looking motorcycle in the parade. I share my home with husband, which I find it could be worse. peace sign jewelry, clog shoes, tie dyed shirts, bell bottom pants. My best friend would tell you I'm willing to take chances, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as weird old lady. hair stylist so I can et to know othersand what makes them tick My current age is 53. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be nicer. I was so completely wrong. NO that wasn't for me If I won $100 million, I'd give 250,00.00 of it to my dad, then spend the rest on my mom, my children and my grand children. how to keep cool and keep my emotions under check. patience, If I could improve my home, I'd remodel nothing, have already remodeled all rooms and add on a enclsure for back porch which is in the process now.
