Eddie William's Story

My schools include Sawmills Elementary and Hudson High School. I later attended Appalachian State University, Kansas Newman University and received a Masters Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. I was in the Air Force for 20 years and worked at Litton Data Systems, Enron Wind, GE Wind Energy and Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems. I have been in 13 countries and all but 5 states. I went to Appalachian for 2 years and then joined the Air Force. I had scored high on the military entrance exam and was sent to an electronics school that was about a year long. I was actually in training for 15 months before I was assigned to a missile crew. The training was so long, because the missile had a nuclear warhead and it was important that we knew how to perform our jobs. I was assigned to McConnell AFB Wichita Kansas. I met my wife on Halloween at a club called the Phone Booth. We were married the next April and have been very happy for 43 years. We have 3 children. My wife manages the optical department for an eye doctor. My oldest daughter is Postmaster at Edwards AFB, which is about 45 miles from Palmdale. My youngest daughter works for Essex Properties and manages two departments. My son is in college and makes straight A™s. I completed by degree in business at Kansas Newman Univ. and became an officer in the Air Force in 1978. I was an aircraft controller until I retired from the Air Fo...Expand for more
rce in 1988. I was stationed in Myrtle Beach, Korea, Hawaii and Tacoma Washington. I also spent some time in Japan, Guam, and Saudi Arabia. I went to work for Litton Data Systems in Los Angeles California when I left the Air Force. I worked for Litton 12 years, traveling all over the US and once to Japan. I then had an offer I could no™t refuse from Enron. I put together the first training department for Enron Wind. We built and maintained wind turbine generators. We had a sister wind company in Germany, where I worked for a couple of weeks. Enron also paid for my Masters degree in Business. It was a lot of fun until Enron went bankrupt. GE purchased the wind division. GE was the worst company I have ever worked for, so I left and went to Northrop Grumman. I had a great time at Northrop. I spent three months in Italy and 220 days in Egypt. My family came to Egypt and we visited the pyramids, Nile River, outside markets and really enjoyed our selves. I was in the training department for the first 4 years at Northrop and a test engineer the last 8. I was given the golden handshake and laid off on the 30th of November 2012. It was perfect timing. I was 66 in December and started drawing Social Security. My oldest daughter and my 3 year old granddaughter live with us and so my new job is to watch her most days. She is keeping me young. She loves to swing and jump on the tramp and play with her dogs.
