Dawn's Story

Life I worked for Roto-Rooter for 21 Years, retiring in 2005 for heath reasons. I live in Southgate now, with my dog Joplin. Before I became ill, I was an instructer in American Karate, an avid member since 1984. I also used to enjoy racquetball, basketball, golf, baseball and walleyball. I am now trying my hand at writing song lyrics and poetry. I Have one poem I wrote in creative writing class , my senior year, that was just published in a book. A second poem will be published this winter. I am looking forward to seeing some people, haven't seen much of you since graduation day. School My Sophmore year I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and finished the year on homebound. When I came back in my junior year I had a hard time and after a month I was going to quit. One of my teachers influenced me greatly and knew I was struggling. With her help and guidance I did not quit. That teacher was Miss McCarthy. The other teachers that helped me were Mr. Dummer, Mr. Marchetti and Mr. Ely. If not for these great teachers I never would have graduated. I thank them with all of my heart. I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. Listen to music and try to meditate. My inspiration comes from people that are caring and not selfish . A big turn off for me is an arogant person. I love all animals. Since I can't participate in sports anymore, I can't watch them. Reality TV is the worst thing that every came out. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel music room and add on a recording studio. My dream home would be a house with all wood floors and a music room with a recording studio and reference library.. If I won $100 million, I'd give 100,000 of it to Heart and Cancer Foundation...Expand for more
s each., then spend the rest on a house built to my specifications , a SUV with all the equipment hand picked by me and all, the largest computer I could find and all the musical instruments to record my own music.. My current age is 47. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be successful. I was so completely right. I can no longer work. I am on permanent disability due to Rheuatoid Arthritis, several strokes and malignant hypertension. My best friend would tell you I'm a very caring person who would help anyone that I could, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as very shy. I still dress like I'm still in the 70's. Tee-shirt, jeans, tennis shoes and hoodie. With a much 70's hairdo of feathering and layering my hair. I have 6 trophies from softball for the District 7 Dads Club. I also have 2 trophies from tournaments I participated in while being an instructor through American Karate Training Centers. In 10 years, I hope to be feeling better. I'm going to get there by thinking positive. I have several old friends I have known since kindergarden. My lifelong friend and I met in 1975. Tim and I have been friends since then and we played everykind of sport possible and listened to the music of the 70's and 80's. My first job was at Roto-Rooter, where I got paid #3.35 to start with and ended with $16 per hour to do every kind of job that existed there, I started as an account receivable and ended as an office coodinator. What I remember most about it is working at an sewer cleaning company after falling off of an sewer pipe at 11 years old and dislocating my hip-now there's destiny for you.. growing up at my grandmothers. She is the one who raised me to be the person I am. I loved her very much and miss her to this day.
