Kevin's Story

Life We'll it's been almost 37 years since I graduated from Poco Senior Secondary. My youngest son (Phillip) had just had his grad 7 years ago (lives in Surrey, and his mom is my 2nd Ex-wife Jane Leflar, first ex-wife is Janet Child no children with Janet) Our oldest graduated a couple of years earlier and should be having or had their 10 year reunion and lives with his wife Sally in Surrey as well, they had baby three years ago so we are grandparents. We (my 3rd wife and I) bought a brand new Heritage Style House in Abbotsford September 2004 and 2 months later we got a Puppy, a Labradour Retreiver (Chocolate) she was only 7 weeks old when we got her. We named her Chocolate Chip or CC for short. Shortly after I graduated from high school I started working for CP Rail, that last for about six years (about as long as my first marriage lasted to Janet), then I worked for a Bakery Distrubution company - Gourmet Baker Distributors, that lasted for about 6 years too, shortly after this I worked for Cartage Company as an Owner Operator but this only lasted a couple of years, then for about 2-3 months I was un-employed and had no income at all, Jane was the only one bringing in a income. But luckily her Dad heard that the place he had just retired from was looking to hire some new staff who were married and had families, the last bunch of new hires had all been single, so I applied and was lucky enough to get an interview. I started the following week as a Healthcare Worker II at the Forensic Psychiatric Institute (At the end of Colony Farm Road), this was May 1990. I worked as a Healthcare Worker until 2003, when I resigned and took the Position as the FPSC Functional Application Specialist and reported to the MIS department at Riverview Hospital. A year later the MIS department at RVH was incorporated into the New PHSA IMIT division and I became a Systems Analyst for the PHSA IMIT, Clinical Application Operations, in 2012 I applied and got the position of QAC (Quality Assurance Coordinator) on the same team, after a year I was asked to file a gap on another team as one of the SA's had gone off on maternity leave and they had no one to cover her absence for a year, so I stepped up and filled the position, after the year was completed I was supposed to go back to the QAC job, but the new manager of the Cerner Operatons team new my Cerner knowledge would be better used as a member of the team so offered me the role of. Senior Business Analyst (SBA), so I accepted, I still think I have the greatest job in the world. I am glad that after 20 years I decided to go back to school and take up something that I had always been interested in - Computers and software. It was tought at first going back to school, a lot of the time I was the oldest student in the classroom, but I didn't let it bother me and managed to complete my studies and graduated from Douglas Collage and was able to land the job I had wanted for a couple of years. ( You remember do-...Expand for more
nut about algebra after 20 years.) So a quick recap, been married and divorced twice, married for the 3rd time (Happily too). Only two children from the 2nd one, held several jobs over the years, CP Rail, GBD, Hastie Cartage, Ministry of Health (FPI - PHSA). Only another 3 years and I can retire and move some place with a lot less traffic. Also we have 3 year old grandson and my father passed away in 2013 he was just shy of his 76th birthday. School Morpeth Northumberland England Morpeth First School (Goose Hill) kindergarten to grade 2/3 Moose Jaw - Saskatchewan Grade 2/3 don't remember then name of the school, was only there about a year Regina - Saskatchewan Arcola Elemntary Grade 3/4 about a year and a half Central Elementary from Grades 4 - 7 ( Grade 6 Camping trip on Burke Mtn, remember the 5 o'clock walk down the mtn in the rain, Grade 7 Mr. Rays class 'n' the Bus trip to Prince George) Mary Hill Junior Secondary - Grades 8 - 10 - Junior/Senior football and Senior Rugby Port Coquitlam Senior Secondary - Grades 11 -12. We had some great times back then eh! I was the guy with the most slaves on slave day, girls remember I think I had 13 or close to it... I was also one of the three guys who drove Chey Vegas, mine was Yellow, Budd had the black station wagon, and Valentine had then cooper coloured one with the big white racing strips. After a number of years I finally became a Freemason in 2001, I became a Master Mason in 2003, in 2009 to 2011 I was the Master of the Lodge, today I am the Lodge Sectretary my lodge is Dogwood Lodge No. 192 in Langley. Dogwood is a daylight Lodge and meets every 3rd Saturday of every 2nd Month beginning in September each year. (2b1ask1). We decided to buy a couple of entry level Honda street motorcycles, early in the year my wife had always wanted a dirt bike when she was younger, but compramised on a Honda CBR 125, I got the 250 Rebel. I had riden back in the 80's - 750 Yamaha Seca) but had to many crashes so gave it up when I married Jane and we had kids. But now that the boys are adults and I'm re-married we are enjoying riding again, might upgrade to a bigger bike next year or the year after. It is a lot of fun. But you do have to drive defensively all the time. (update as my wife broke her foot six months later the bikes sat for some time, we finally sold them and had no bikes for almost 2 years, my wife bought a Yamaha induro and is again learning to ride but is thinking this is not the right bike for here so may sell or trade it in on something else. We also took up cycling and she did a trip with her dad from Smithers to Stewart (about 215 Kim's one way), they both have bionx bikes and pulled trailers behind them with all the camping gear. She enjoyed it until she fell off her bike and might of broken her collar bone. June 14 - 16 we did a cycle trip from Abbotsford to Chilliwack(Cultus lake area) only 38 km one way ( no bionx for me), it was fun. I posted some photos on Facebook.
