Marilyn's Story
Life
I moved to London Ontario in Jan, 1970. Had worked at Union Gas for 35 years. I retired Dec 31st, 2008. Have one daughter, Shannon who gave birth to twin boys on June 1st 2007. Love them to bits. Got my motorcycle licence when I was 39 and my first bike at 40. Husband Don and I do a lot of travelling, Florida, cruising the Caribbean. We also have had many many trips on the motorcycle.
I too remember all the trips, slips and slides down the bluffs at the foot of Warden Ave. Such fun. My friend Sue (Oates)and I made a trip to the old stomping grounds in Sept of 2006 and found quite a difference to when we lived there. But, even with a few aches and pains, life is good.
School
Went to Birchcliff Public School from grade 7-8. Loved Mr Dyer and Miss Morrow. She was tough but good. Went to RHKing for grade 9 & 10 and then they built ...Expand for more
Birchmount Park CI so I had to transfer there for grades 11 & 12. Loved school and the way of life back then. I just didn't realize that until many years later. Loved my English teacher at Birchmount, Mr. Walker. and business teacher Mr.Joyce. They were both influential in my life. I actually saw Mr. Joyce in 2010.. He is now living in London and we met for a coffee at the Tim's near both our homes. He looks the same and although I don't think he remembered me, I showed him a picture of himself that he had given me when I graduated and he remembered that. Sue Oats and I went back to Birchmount last year for a visit. Not the same school now as it was then. Too bad. Went to the 45th reunion in Oct of 2009 and disappointed that more people weren't there. But it was wonderful seeing those that were. Looking forward to the 50th reunion in 2014.
