John East passed away Nov. 15, 1999. I am posting a bio. in hopes that former students might read it.
Jason Brasier is making a documentary about John. He is in need of videos, esp. any showing John being a normal person instead of a band director. The SCMMEA directors commissioned a band arrangement in memory of John. It is title "East of the Sun". It is published by Wingert-Jones. They also present an award in his honor at the Nov. Select Band Concert in Springfield to the director that is voted the best mentor by the other directors. (I had to put that John graduated in 1967 from Willow Springs to get into classmates to type this.)
