David's Story

Life Class of '78', left school after '77' and joined the Air Force...now retired after 22 years and currently working for the University of Dayton Research Institute as a Field Engineer Liaison. Jan 78-May 80 stationed at George AFB and was a Corrosion Control Technician. I still remember my first job task, myself and AB Evan Scott painted the black squares on the paint booth doors...lol. Many names and faces I recall mostly Evan and Marty Dutil(sp). Fist supervisor was Dale 'Shakey' Baker, and our Commander LTC Steele, and one of the best CMSgt in my career Chief Patterson. My first shop chief was Mike Powell. Others: Tyrell Wilson, Jerry Lee, Kevin Mathews, Meyers, Rich Petty, Menopace, Julie Fisher, Msgt Moore, Steve Crum, Bill Tuitt (who died in a car accident, Tulhill(SM), Joe Petok(sp)Burkhart was also in sheet metal. Over all was a good assignment hated the day I got orders to Guam...but looking back was the best thing career wise for me. Guam: 80-82 Learned alot about corrosion control and people. Those I was stationed with Beck, Hundley, Bearing, Smalls, Ford, TJ, Bernstien many more. Rief. Commander I remember was Maj/LTC Rondel Smith (later was 2 Star at Warner Robins) definetly new the answers to the questions he asked showed me you can work hard and play hard ...painting B52 D models in the rain or having a few beers with the troops at the softball fields. Castle AFB: Atwater Ca. the middle of California, god assignment and when I decided to make the AF a career. Played football and softball, just so many names that seem to fade the older I get...EdDvorak, Lou Cortez (hey w-mail me....) Grace Picicci (Wendy says Hi!) Joe(Artie) Collins, Dan Olson, Bob Fey, and the rest.. I had fun, thanks for putting up with me! Pease AFB: Wow, simply my best assignment...fun fun fun..oh and played softball, football, basketball and drank...drank...drank. I did do some work too! Reggie! Bob, Lynn, Katie, Bonnie, Dave, Wakeman, Keith Eskili, Stan (who married Bonnie, Thanks! For more than you two realize) Divorced once (Kathy) and married second time to Wendy Wesemann, father to 5 fantastic girls Jamie, Jennifer, Carla, Kristen, Rachel and also have a stepdaughter Brittany and step-son Brandon. We are blessed with 11 grandchildren with more on the way (Apr 08). Feel free to drop a line love to here from old friends....
