Joy's Story
Shortly after graduation, I married Pat Miller (class of 1967). Our daughter, Carrie, was born the following year, and son, Clint, the year after that. Having our children when we were so young was a challenge and a blessing. We also have two exceptional grandchildren, Natalie 12 and Ryan 6. Pat joined the US Marine Corps in 1971 and made a 32 yr career of it. I kept the home fires burning while he served in Viet Nam, Somalia, Okinawa, Japan, Kuwait, and Iraq. and Oregon. I had a 30 year career myself as a federal employee with the Social Security Administration. Pat and I are both retired now and living just outside of Salem OR so that we can be near my mother and help take care of her. We live on 3 acres in the country where we are raising gophers and field mice in our pasture and bull frogs and nutria in our pond. We occasionally get a squirrel or bat in the house which is always exciting. When we aren¿t outside working in the yard you¿ll find us fishing or playing with our two little dogs Mitzie and Harley.
