Andrea's Story

Life Well, it's been a long time since we all attended Heavener. With more than twenty years behind us, I don't know where to begin, so I will try to provide a brief update. My husband Matt and me reside in Beckley, West Virginia with our three boys Vincent (age 17), Andres (age 14) and Matthew Ridge (age 6)(we call him Ridge.) Over the last seven years I have been a "stay home mom" and I have cherished every moment. I can honestly say that God has truly blessed me. Since I had quite a bit of time on my hands while the boys were at school, I decided to return to college myself. It was grueling as all get out, but I did it. In May 2007, I graduated from Virginia Tech with my Master's in Public Administration and Policy. Now, I'm sure most of you are probably thinking, "so, who cares" but for me, it is a huge accomplishment. If there would have been a least likely to succeed category in "Who's Who" in high school, I would have been at the top of the list. Frankly, I was a mess... ally weighing whether or not to complete my Ph.D at tech. I only have two years of course work left, but I assure you all, giving birth was far easier than what I went through in school. I hope you will all forgive my moment of pride, but I am living proof that anyone can accomplish anything as long as they are tenacious, and believe in themselves, and most importantly never forget that through God all things are accomplished. I guess the "brief message" thing is out the door so I will try to tie everything up in this paragraph. My husband Matt, recently took a job outside of Charleston, West Virginia so our family is building a home there. We are praying it will be complete by March. For those of you who are nature lovers, WV is a great state for white water rafting, skiing and mountain biking. It is truly Heaven on Earth and any of you are welcome in our home at anytime.
