Julie's Story
I moved to BG, went to WKU for yr and a half-got married-had a child-divorced-stayed that way for many years-got married again-didn't work out-divorced again-then married again-and still going strong after 12 years. Worked my way up at the newspaper from receptionist to promotions to national Adv. to Classified Adv. to Clfd. Adv. Mgr. During part of this time worked a second job too-I bartended-that was a fun job-but glad I'm not in that profession any longer-but sure did keep me inshape at the time-running up and down the bar, lifting kegs, cases of beer-Whew!-glad that's over even though it was fun at the time-figured it was the best of both worlds-out having a great time-meeting people but making money instead of out spending it and I didn't have a hang over the next day.
Love working with people. I'm a very adapatble type of person-I now have a farm, horses and I love to do just about anything. From bon-fire parties-hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, horseback riding, paintball fights, walking, garden growing-or just curling up on the couch to watch a good movie or re...Expand for more
ad a good book-love to read James Patterson, Sandra Brown type books, love to cook for a large group. Whatever comes along-but I'd say hunting is my fav-you go out into the woods-which I can fortunately just walk out my back door-and you never know what you'll see-I have seen and shot turkeys, deer, coyotes, fox, squirrels, rabbits. Once I was turkey hunting and a bob cat came within 6 feet of me-and I've had racoons look in the window of my blind at me-that'll make ya jump.
I have worked at the newspaper since 81, my daughter, I guess you could say is a world traveler since she spent 7 years in the Army as an MP. My husband and I went to visit her in Germany when she was stationed there-that was memorable-Germany was beautiful. Well-I've pretty much hit the highlights I guess - I'd say anyone who knew me way back when-certainly would never have guessed I'd turn into such an avid hunter-even people who know me at work-when then read the sign a friend gave me that is posted on my door it surprises them-"Born to Hunt-Forced to Work!" So true-So true-have a great one!
