Deborah's Story
When I was young, I wanted an interesting life. It has turned out that way...be careful what you wish for, you might get it!
Because I worked in sports when I was young, I got to meet, be friends with, date and work with some really interesting people. Who impressed me the most? Jean Beliveau...a real gentleman. Brian Kilrea...great guy...good friend of my very first "boss" when I was seventeen...and thirty years later, when my son needed a hand in hockey, still willing to go out of his way to help. Brian, you are the best!
I don't remember my old friends in public forums; those people I was good friends with...if you knew me then, you might remember..... I did get to impress my children once or twice though. That was fun.
Married Jim Eastman. He died in 1995. Married again in 1997 to Patrick Timmons. Made the sudden, but absolutely right, decision to leave him at the end of May 2012. That makes me a happy independent woman who is still standing after it all, making new plans for the next few decades :)
Worked in so many different career paths doing so many different things. Went to Carleton University (as did my oldest son, who graduated with his Masters). The other three children all attend(ed) the University of Prince Edward Island. I am back at U...Expand for more
niversity again, taking Psychology, one course at a time. Figure I will be a 90-year-old with a PhD.
Been playing around in/working in the IT field since the late 80s. Wrote/co-wrote a number of technical books ... yeah, they still show up in Google ... not quite what I planned when I wanted to be an author. I was thinking best-selling novel turned into screenplay at the time.
Working as a Consultant/Team Lead/Development Lead at CGI and loving it! Great place to work, great people to work with!!
Favorite charities? Run For The Cure (love and miss you, Mom!), Turn On The Lights (co-founder with my daughter, Kate) Anderson House, Little Warriors, Janis Foligno Foundation.
So...you ask...where's the interesting stuff? Trust me...it's between all the lines of this dialogue. But this is a forum for good news...like those "Christmas letters" you get from relatives...all the shiny, none of the rust.
Always happy to hear from old friends. Sometimes you realize that those are the friends that remember you dancing on a sidewalk at midnight, having one too many white russians, laughing until you cried. Your kids? They think you are boring, responsible and "can't possibly remember" what it was like to be young! You remember...sometimes a little TOO well!
