Eric's Story
Greetings from Colorado! Now that most of the class has assembled on Classmates I suppose it is time to try and catch up with what I hope has been an incredible 20 years for everyone! Where have I been, what have I been doing, what am I doing now?? All very good questions which I will do my best to summarize in 500 words or less¿ After high school I joined the Navy and served 8 years around the world working in counter intelligence. After the Navy I moved to Denver and began working in the corporate world. Somewhere along the way I developed a soft heart and started doing all sorts of volunteer activities. I was an EMT for a period of time, did meals on wheels for several years, I still coach little league baseball, I also host an annual golf tournament to raise money for various charities. A couple of years ago I started a non-profit for children with disabilities. I have since moved on to other challenges, but it¿s a program worth checking out. (sportsmadepossible.org). I¿ve worked on a couple political campaigns, mostly doing strategy and writing ¿ I must not have done very well because neither of the candidates were actually elected...Expand for more
. I¿ve also coach high school Lacrosse, and am now a Sports Buddy which is a derivative of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. A few years ago I decided it was time to accomplish the goal of going to college, so I did that at night for 3 years and now I can finally say I¿ve caught up to much of you with a degree! I currently work for Western Union where I run the Strategy organization for a couple of our subsidiaries. Nothing too exciting, but it does pay the bills! When I am not working, and sometimes when I am supposed to be working, I am on the golf course a fair amount. Still haven¿t given up on that dream of making at living at it, but my rational side knows it will most likely never happen ¿ at least not a ¿good¿ living. So that¿s the long and short of it. I get back to the Wallace area about once a year to visit with my parents. Everything seems so small these days, but as I approach the Silver Valley I must say that it does feel like home. For anyone reading this, I hope the years have treated you exceptionally well. I would love to hear your stories, so given some time which I know can be scarce, please feel free to drop me a line.
