Gloria's Story
Hi Friends,
Currently my little family and I live in the country, 10 miles north of Pinehurst. We have bees, two dogs, a cat and three hens.
Roxie was our first pet. She was abandoned as a puppy. It took much time and effort to catch her (two weeks). But we finally succeeded. Friskie was adopted from the animal shelter. Then later we got Buddy (the cat) from the shelter because Robin had never had one. He is a little flirt (Buddy that is).
(Lucky passed away 2/22/08 heart attack suspected ) Lucky was our first hen. She fell off of a truck on the way to the processing plant. Robin picked her up. Now she is our little Lucky. She weighs about 13 pounds. We are vegetarians so she'll be around a while. She has started laying very nice eggs. A friend gave her little Bantam hens to be buddies.
Her story is on you tube. Just type i...Expand for more
n Lucky the Chicken and her videos will come up, along with others with similar names. Gloyoga takes you to others I like and other info.
We have three hives of bees. In addition to harvesting honey, I make meager attempts to make candles out of my bee's wax. The honey has to be washed off, then melted and filtered to get the pollen out. Its very time consuming but the hard part for me is getting the wicks straight.
I also teach yoga (mostly at my church) and coordinate a Junior Achievement project for the local middle schools.
Robin retired from school admistration in 2007. Currently he writes grants directs a mentoring program he developed as well as doing 7 Habits training.
Life is interesting these days, but I do miss those high school days. We hope that one day the Class of 77 will have a reuion (maybe even the entire school).
