Mona's Story
Doesn't everyone wonder at times, "What is he or she doing now?" , or " Whatever happened to what's their name?" After graduation, I went to school in Oregon for 2 years, then I traded trees for cactus and transferred to Arizona State Univ in 1984. I got a BS in Biology & in Nursing. I fell in love with my husband, Mike, & got married in '88. We've been happily married for 20 years and counting. We've had a wonderful time together, most of which has been spent in the great outdoors. Some of the highlights have been many backpack trips in the Grand Canyon, several houseboat adventures on Lake Powell, a hike up Mt. Whitney in CA, we've been mountain bikers for about 18+ years - of which I raced competitively for 10 years. Mike & I have taken some pretty memorable vacations. New Zealand is a definite favorite. We had the best time hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu in the Andes of Peru. Then our world changed - for the better. After 16 years...Expand for more
of being just the two of us, Matthew came along. He was my 40th birthday present! Surprisingly enough, that feat was repeated 3 years later when we had Nathan in July '07. We have 2 wonderful, fun, healthy, active little boys - Oh My! I was a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital for 18 years when I turned in my nurses' cap for an apron, full-time last fall. Now I shuttle the boys to preschool, swimming lessons, the zoo, and various parks, etc. Matthew is 4yrs old now & keeps us on our toes. Nathan is 13.5 mo old (at the time I wrote this) and is now walking. He is proud to be a mama's boy. There's nothing like seeing this cute face, huge smile, and a little person waddle as fast as he can to me when I walk into the room. Vacations are a little more work, but worth it. Mountain biking is limited to tag teaming on weekends & pulling a trailor. But we wouldn't trade it for anything. I have truly been blessed in my life. Happy Trails, Mona 9/2/2008
