Anne's Story
You probably don't remember me, the smart shy girl with the frizzy hair.
After Nepean I went onward to Queen's University, graduated in 1977 in Chemical Engineering. Then moved to Calgary to work for Imperial Oil. Reservoir engineer for Cold Lake and/or field engineer in Cold Lake for almost 10 years total. Got married in 1978 and had 2 great kids in '83 and '85. In 1988 off to Fort McMurray for a loan assignment for my then husband. No loan jobs for me so they gave me a leave of absence and I started teaching for Keyano College, computer classes. lot of travel, which got trickier with a divorce in there. But I loved the job! Travel to the client wherever in the world, implement the software, train the users, fly away! In 2001 I got an offer from Schlumberger in Calgary to do a similar job and I've been there ever since. Also re-married in 2001, but sadly he passed away in 2008. My current role is internal training, so I'm back to traveling around the world, kind of fun, a little lonely, and very irritating to stand in airport lineups. But a great job nevertheless! While I'm away, my daughter takes care of the 3 dogs.. she lives with me in Calgary part time while at U of C and in Golden BC part time. My son graduated from U of C in biomedical engineering and has a good job and owns a condo with his girlfriend.
